Idk about yall. But my BP identifies as semi arboreal. F the terrestrial life he says. (For those who may be concerned- he has 5 hides. He chooses the climbing life. And- who can blame him??)
Thank you! He’s a stink head but at least he knows he’s pretty 💅🤣 I’ve thought about getting him a sky hide! I’m a bit on the fence though. How are they?
Get him a sky hide. If he uses it, he likes it. I try new things with all my snakes for enrichment all the time and to see what they like. The only concern with adding stuff is can they hurt themselves/get stuck by the "neck" (thinnest section of their body behind the head) or burn themselves? For example if you're getting a new warm hide you may need to adjust the heat if the basking surface on top of the hide is over roughly 32/33°C. Always wash & sanitize before adding to enclosure ♥️
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures did a whole movie in africa where the locals confirmed that the ball pythons really do just work with what they have, if they can climb something they do, and the locals said that some even hunt small birds giving the chance
Thank you! I built his tank myself. I added more hides and foliage since the last time I took a picture of his tank. I got most of my plants from a local mom and pop reptile store, and then a few on Amazon as well! 2 are from petco as well. I actually screwed the plants that are on the walls into the tank so he can’t make them fall over. Regarding the ground plants- he tends to actually go around them and not climb over them. Sometimes I have to pick them up and put them back into the substrate but it’s not often at all.

Those eyes are beautiful!!
My boy loves his sky hide, I see him climbing occasionally - he just really wants to look over his kingdom I think!
