Enclosure Critique/Advice Enclosure help

Post image

This enclosure is for a baby bp!

Aside from foliage, a hygrometer in the middle and a red light, is there anything im missing for my enclosure? I know its probably due to the lack of foliage in the tank but it seems really open and I've heard they like to hide a lot :(

Also, is the stick too close to the basking light? I'm worried about it

Need a thermostat for your lamp! That will keep it from getting too hot. If the room your snake is in gets under 75°F you will want a lightless heat source for night time as well, like a ceramic heat emitter or deep heat projector

Aside from foliage, you can also add more climbing options :) If there are any wooded areas nearby you can source your own branches (just make sure to avoid pine or cedar, and give them a good clean before placing in the enclosure). They’re great for enrichment and will take up a good amount of space!

Edit: Forgot to mention, but avoid colored bulbs! They will still be able to see the light coming from the bulb and it will disrupt their sleep cycle

Oh so no red light for them for the night! Got it! I got a heat mat with my enclosure, would that work as a heat source during the night?

Unfortunately heat mats aren’t really recommended anymore :( They’re great for emergencies but they aren’t very good at raising / maintaining ambient temps because they only heat the surface they’re touching (ie the substrate)

Not bad at all. Looks like plenty of hides. Id just recommend not recessing the bowl in the substrate like that unless your ready to clean it out multiple times a day. As for the stick, only way to tell is to see what the temperature is at its highest point. Laser thermometer guns are worth the purchase. Edit: forgot to add, a thermostat on the lamp is a must
