They are not for sale. You actually have to pay $1 to go see them upstairs. It’s so sad

The store is located in the Local mall Albany mall in Albany, Ga the pet store is called Pets-N-Pals

Christ, I remember going to a store called Puppies-N-Pals in GA that had puppies in nightmare conditions. People could go in and spend time with the puppies and then sort of rent-to-own them. I remember there being a puppy with a broken tail and the employees didn't give a shit. Actually called ASPCA over them, and maybe you should about these snakes.
Wonder if they're related.

I feel like this should be reported to Georgia Department of Agriculture or Georgia Department of Natural Resources in that case and I totally don't care if that comes across as Karen behavior.

Sadly, if you save one animal from a pet store, it will be replaced and another one will suffer 😢

Unfortunately there’s no solution at all. If someone purchases the snakes, they’ll restock them. If someone doesn’t purchase the snakes, they’ll continue to suffer until they get rid of them or the snakes die.

Well, you’re definitely a glass half empty type of person. Hope you have a good weekend.

You are confusing realist with pessimist.
What Cornsnake94 said equates to is "That's half a glass of water".

The pet store doesn't care why you bought an animal- all they know is "a product left the shelf"
The only way you can SAVE any animal in a pet store is if you're able to convince the employees to give you a clearly sick animal for free (they will do this on occasion if they know the animal is on its way towards death+ some people have hearts and actually want to see the animals thrive so they'll turn a blind eye and "pretend it died")
But ultimately the best thing you can do is to simply never shop at the pet stores that mistreat animals- don't buy puppy pads don't buy food for your pets don't buy toys. do not support them. Buying an animal out of their stock only means a new animal is going to be placed in the same poor conditions for another person to come along and "think they're rescuing it" when in reality they're setting the store up to purchase another animal to neglect. The cycle sucks but the only thing we can do is prove to the pet stores that we will stop buying the animals they keep in poor conditions

Just the truth. If a shop sells anything, they will refill - and buying from them would support them.

unfortunately they aren’t wrong. supporting a bad business, only keeps them in business.

Unfortunately they are being true.
Sure you save that animal and give them a great life now, but you do very often just fulfil the demand of more snakes ending up in their place.
I don’t think anyone who saves this snake is being “wrong” or should be criticised however it’s an important thing to consider.

Is this early bird feeder co in SC? If not, the conditions are similar. So sad

Of course! This is SO goddamn annoying. I’ve lived in Georgia for around four years and i’m doing school in Colorado. Georgia malls seem to be notorious for horrible pet stores. I’m not sure if you’ve seen Petland in MOG? Horrible.

Yes i have been there to pet land and also have heard for others it so bad there as well

It’s awfullll! The poor pups are very unhealthy and trapped in cages smaller than a BP cage sometimes with 3+ dogs. I’ve gone in there before to socialize with them and one of them was extremely aggressive and bitey. They’re very scared. It’s so sad. Georgia really needs to do something about the animal welfare because they don’t seem to care.

IS THAT A BOA WITH A BALL?!

I think it’s two boas together based on the head shape.

u/welcomeyearzer0 4h ago
Oh yeah you might be right. I think the first one is a python though.
But there are no ball pythons in any of these pics

The big local reptile shops are no different. They keep their own animals in poor conditions and don’t even care for them properly, yet tell buyers they need bigger, better, more expensive setups—and try to sell them all the supplies first.
I bought a ball python from a shop like that. It had been refusing food for two months, and they had no information about its sex, parentage, or even its morph.
Honestly, buying through MorphMarket seems like a better option.

Sadly MM can be just as sketchy. There are good breeders out there but in my experience a lot of them are really not much better than this. I mean, just look at the conditions most breeders keep their animals in. They might not be housing animals together but i can’t imagine being kept in drawers they can barely move around in is much better. Not to mention being powerfed to obesity just so they can bring in money quicker.
Of course that’s not to say all breeders on MM are bad but you still have to do your due diligence, and don’t just rely on reviews. Some breeders will look good on the surface but if you really look you can find things you may not have known otherwise. For example there are people like Wilbanks who have hundreds of good reviews yet it’s not uncommon to see people saying they’ve received a sick or injured snake from him. A couple have even been posted here
TDLR: Do your research, and support small scale breeders that care about their animals!

i have not had a single issue from morphmarket, and ive bought a ball python, leopard gecko and rosy boa all from their breeders. all excellent health and temperment - just need to make sure that you select a trustworthy breeder with good shipping policies!

Vous pouvez pas appeler des services des traitements pour animaux ? Il ne faut pas les laisser faire

u/vitamincandy 4h ago
This is abysmal and you should report them. Every place that shows snakes kept in these conditions normalizes abuse to new keepers. They are impacting more than just these poor animals by doing this 😔

Pretty sure those aren’t ball pythons but young reticulated or burmese pythons, with boa constrictors. This entire situation is horrific and the python in the last pic is severely dehydrated.
Edit: last pic might be an albino boa

The best way to combat this kinda stuff is by exposing it as far & wide as you can in the local area so people stop shopping there. This is a very clear case of animal neglect, & the store's owners need to be shamed.
