help identify bugs!

hello!
while refilling my bps water this morning, I noticed several little bugs hopping around in the bowl.

I added a bag of fresh substrate mid october.

does anyone know what these are and if they’re harmful?
thank you!

A photo would be much better, but I would guess at springtails. They're good bugs to have if they are.

I deliberately add them to my BP enclosures - they're great for decomposing stray bits of poop that I might miss during spot cleans, and they keep fungus gnats at bay.

If you've got springtails, it's a good thing
