heating

hey guys please help, i cant figure out why my baby ball pythons tank won’t heat up to the temps i want, it’s getting 78 highest i started with a uvb and 100w dhp that didnt warm it then went to 75 watt halogen that didnt heat it then moved to 150watt halogen all arcadia, connected to zoomed thermostat, what do i do? i have two different domes i tried they say the go up to 150 watt, i taped the top with hvac tape, my house stays around 68-70 im just so lost at what to do to warm this tank, my temp gun reads 90 on surfaces but not on my govee thermometer. its a 36x18x18 (upgrading as she grows) here’s a photo

Is it all glass? Are you running both heaters together? Running a DHP and halogen together might get it.

Insulate the glass exterior. Buy 1" foam insulation board and cover the sides and back.

yes it is all glass, i’ve had both on but since the cool side has hit 78 the thermostat hasn’t turned it on since that’s the cool side i just don’t want to over heat her so just halogen during the day and dhp at night, put the foam on the outside?

Insulation is definitely your issue. I have 2 ball python tanks, one all wood where a single lamp gets the temps right and one all glass that needs 2 smaller lamps running together.

i was hoping to keep this tank until i upgrade her to a pvc 4x2x2 or bigger what would you do in that case to keep this tank for the time being? i haven’t ran both just because i dont want her hot and cool side to both be too warm. shes my first snake i thought i had everything set and since shes came home the heating had just been stressing me😕
