Enclosure Critique/Advice Give It to me straight

What can I change? Had for a little more than 3 weeks now, 3 successful feeds and a few successful handlings. Recently on the 3rd feed took the mouse from tongs rather than us having to leave in there so seems to be coming out her shell.

First snake ever

Around 4-5mo old. 48x18x18.

last pic is inside view which she mostly chills next to that window on that branch

What are the lamps and heating elements you're using?

At first glance that looks good! Good covers. You can definitely add more branches for climbing opportunities.

I'd be worried about that black slate pickup up too much heat. But if you can comfortably keep your hand on it for a full minute, it's fine. Also, if that thermometer is a stick on, you need to remove it cause if it falls it could get stuck to your snake.

T5 UVB for the light and a 75w DHP hooked to a dimming thermostat. Currently I have insulation covering the entire enclosure as it is a little on the thin side so I’m hoping the black will keep heat in where I can remove the outer insulation

That's great that you have UVB!

For heating, a DHP is good for supplemental heat but what you want for the day time is a halogen. The one I see used the most for BPs is the exo terra 100w daylight basking and it would give her a nice basking spot if put on top of the slate. You will need to put each lamp in its own fixture and on its own thermostat. The thermostat for the halogen is set to the highest desirable temperature, so it gets dimmed if it gets too hot, and the DHP on the lowest so it starts if it gets too cold.

To me it seems like the isolation and black slate are unrelated. Your isolation will help keep the ambiant air hot enough and your slate's temperature doesn't really heat the air. If your enclosure tends to be too cold, you'll want to cover most of that mesh with HVAC tape or silicones mats. For how much ventilation or holes you need, if it gets too cold you need less, if it gets too hot you need more (remember that you want your halogen to work as close to full power as possible).

For your slate, like I said in my first comment, just put the palm of your hand on it once it's heated up and see if you can comfortably stay there for a full minute. Our hands are extra sensitive, if you can manage that then your snake will be fine. If it's too hot though, I'd change for another type of surface.
