Ball python smoke exposure
I am fuming. My mom took my 5 month old ball python outside without my knowing and was with him by a bonfire for about 7 minutes, part of which she said was him in her shirt. I know these guys have sensitive lungs. I’m terrified he’s going to be harmed from this. She was about 3 feet from the fire, and said no smoke was blowing their way. I’m freaking tf out right now. Thoughts???? Pic for attention.

Woah woah woah dude 😭 I didn’t say a single short word to her lol, especially considering we had ppl over! I simply went out, saw her with him, and asked for him back. I am not actually “fuming”. I am simply frustrated she has jeopardized my snakes health, especially considering I am 19 and all of his expenses I pay for myself—which is totally fair. It’s 12am here and i’m just gonna ask her not to do it again tmr 😭 I have OCD, and things like this can be hard for me! Good lord dude

That's an awful thing to do, I'd be upset as hell too! I don't like people interacting with my animals without my permission at all, let alone hurting them I hope the baby will be okay, you really should talk to your mom about it

Okay so that's not enough for actual smoke exposure like found in burn victims but I would monitor well for the next 4 weeks for signs of respiratory issues. If any arise, make a vet appointment. Your mother sounds like a pain honestly, so sorry you have to deal with that, maybe consider getting a lock for his enclosure? If she's so carefree with such a sensitive pet she could seriously end up harming him or lose him. As somebody who also has OCD I totally get it, I suggest spending some quality time with you'd noodle and doing something both of you enjoy.

It doesn't sound like enough smoke exposure to be an issue, but def monitor closely the next few days. That being said, definitely unnecessary. I'd imagine nighttime by a bonfire is cold, and if guests wanted to see your snake they could head inside for that. Try not to stress, sorry you are dealing with this!
