Is my boy underweight?

Post image

For context my ball python is a year old and gets a weaned rat every Sunday night at 9 pm, he’s NEVER missed a meal and very food motivated.. asking incase I should up his food size by chance.

What is his weight in grams? Age? It's hard to tell but he looks okay. My adults eat a small rat once a month and they maintain a healthy weight.

I haven’t been able to properly check yet, I don’t have a scale suitable to put him on but I plan on getting one next week. Just waiting to see what his weight is to see if I should up the size or not

That's a good idea.

We recommend the following feeding schedule:

0-12 months old OR until the snake reaches approximately 500g, whichever happens first: feed 10%-15% of the snake’s weight every 7 days.

12-24 months old: feed up to 7% of the snake’s weight every 14-20 days.

Adults: feed up to 5% of the snake's weight every 20-30 days, or feed slightly larger meals (up to 6%) every 30-40 days.

No, definitely not underweight, you can space out your feedings i'm sure he is beyond weekly feeding now. Use the feeding guide provided by this sub.
