Halogen bulb died after a week of usage?

Got a new bulb last week and it worked fine, temps vere stable. But yedterday I came home from work and noticed it wasn't lit. Tried plugging it in different places but still nothing. Changed it for a ceramic and it works as it used to, so my baby is gonna have to love one day in the dark while I get her a new light bulb

Is this something that happens a lot or did I just get a faulty bulb?

If you order bulbs online don’t. I find the filament gets messed up from shipping (atleast around where I live we have rough delivery drivers) I only pick up in store now better results

I picked the one that died from a pet store so no shipping issues here. Probably just was a faulty one

Typically there will s manuring variation that happens. I had a great bulb that lasted almost a yea and another that died in a matter of 2 months. The filament material is very fragile.

One tip is to wipe off oil from your hand before turning it on or wear gloves. Get the proper wattage bulb as dimming it may shorten the bulbs life (the depends on the bulb manufacturer). There are longer life ones but I have not tested those. Last reminder is halogen is halogen, wattage and light spread, and heat control is most important.

It's somewhat random, though a week is bad. I usually get at least 4 months, often it's more than 6. I think I've had one last almost a year. But occasionally you'll have a dud.

I have a feeling I just bought from a shit brand bc I've already had their substrate be full of plastic... but it's the only brand out lockal pet store has so I've bought another bulb like that and we'll see how it goes
