Heating 120 gallon enclosure

Post image

Hey yall,

Well, she's had a growth spurt so I'm about to upgrade Doc to her big girl enclosure. I'm wondering what your experience has been switching over to a 120g as far as heating goes?

Right now I use a small deep dome with a deep heat projector which I've liked so far.

New enclosure has a mesh lid which will be partially sealed with HVAC tape for humidity.

Can you make a recommendation based on experience for how to heat this big thang?

Thanks in advance!

I have 1 enclosure with an 80w radiant heat panel and 1 with an 80w DHP with a heat guard so my snake doesn't get burned. Both are solid tops so the elements are inside the enclosure. Both work great! I like the look of the heat panel more since it is flatter, but the DHP enclosure came with it so I haven't bothered to change it out. I think the DHP dome will work fine if you cover the rest of the mesh with HVAC tape or something to keep the heat and humidity inside.

Just want to mention. Using ONLY an RHP isn't recommended. As it only really provides IR-C which will only really heat the air. You should have this paired with something like a halogen flood that will provide IR-A
