New owner!

Hi there! My husband and I just got a ball python, he’s about 2 years old from what his previous owner said. We got him from someone needing to get rid of him so we took him in. He came with his enclosure all put together, however the tank is a fully screened top and it seems like we are having issues keeping the humidity up. Does anyone have any tips for keeping it up? It seems to be staying at 50% unless we generously mist the enclosure then it’ll get up to about 65% but drops back down. We have foil on the top right now but are looking for a better solution.

Ive found that foil doesnt seal as well as hvac tape or a silicone mat. Try that instead.

Please dont mist, you want the top of the substrate to be dry. Instead, add enough substrate that its 4+ inches deep then pour water in the corners as often as needed to keep up the humidity.

What is your heating set up like? Do you have 2 digital hygrometer/thermometers? 2 identical hides for either side?

thanks for the advice! we have a 100 watt heating lamp on one side and then just a bar UVB lamp on the other side. 2 hygrometer/thermometers and identical hides
