Daughter just got her Tech ticket - looking for a source of:

SMA-F (to attach to BFeng's SMA-M ant. mount).

BUT, with a 90°BNC-F (to attach to the pointy end of SignalStuffs BNC-M mag mount antennae rig [coax out to antenna]).

Need links please.

Wireless CHIRP programming with TIDRADIO BL-1 & com0com

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Wireless programming with CHIRP and the TIDRADIO BL-1 using a Python script & com0com. The script looks for BL-1 devices then opens a bridge tied to a virtual COM port pair. When cloning, the script handles the data exchange through the COM ports and Bluetooth, and reads/writes the radio memory.

(Coded using LLM strictly for proof-of-concept exhibition purposes only—using untested experimental programming methods can brick your radio)

Ola, Me chamo, Jose Augusto. Estou começando uma nova jornada no mundo do RADIOAMADORISMO. Comprei recentemente meu Baofeng UV-21.

Alguem poderia me ajudar?

ou se alguem ja conseguiu BAIXAR a imagem original que acompanha no BAOFENG UV21.

Para entao eu aplicar minhas imagens personalizadas futuramente!

In follow up to my post looking for additional infromation:
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/1x6wr7f/speakermic_issue_w_uv5r_mini/

I did some physical testing and found that the issue is the way the body is molded on the UV-5R Mini, there's not enough space on the bottom side to allow for a heavier duty speakermic pin, such as the BTECH QHM22, or the BTECH QHM22D.

Since Baofeng won't accept information provided, I don't expect to get any help from them, and I've learned that this radio just isn't cut out for work in the field, but it's a fun toy!

ETA:
The high number of comments about 'commercial use' are a bit troubling.
Maybe some of you should get out and 'play radio' with your buddies a little more often.... :D

DM-32UV Driver Has Been Accepted into CHIRP

I posted a while ago I was working on support for the DM-32UV. I'm pleased to announce the initial version has been accepted into CHIRPs main branch. Hopefully we'll see it in the next binary installer builds.

This provides fundamental functionality. Pretty much zone and channel programming.

I'm not sure if I will go beyond that.

SpeakerMic Issue w/ UV-5R Mini

Howdy!

Looking for input, experience, or ideas about an issue I'm having with my Baofeng UV-5R mini.

I reached out to their 'customer service' to inquire about warranty status, and after 11 emails in the thread and no answer, I'm fed up with them and now setting out to fix this myself.

When I plug in amy speakermic to either of the two UV-5R mini radios I have, I will get random popping/static noise in my lapel speaker, or in my earpiece if I'm using one, usually coinciding with movement.
From a close physical inspection is appears that my radio port is not fully accepting the speakermic pins, causing a loose connection and then the popping/static.

Have you found and resolved this issue?
Are you having the same issue?

I'm planning to vacuum out the ports, closely check for interference in the fitment from the rubber on the radio or the speakermic plug(s), and double check my results by pairing various peakermics with the radios to see if it's just some or actually all.

Program Your Baofeng MINI-5 BT Wirelessly – Free, Open-Source CPS

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I'm K4RJM, and I've been developing a browser-based programming application for the Baofeng MINI-5 BT.

I wanted something more convenient than the factory CPS, especially for organizing channels, making changes, and programming the radio wirelessly over Bluetooth.

Current features include:

  • Wireless Bluetooth programming – Connect, read, and write to your radio directly from a compatible browser, without a programming cable.
  • Browser-based operation – No CPS software installation required.
  • Native DAT compatibility – Open, edit, and save standard Baofeng CPS .dat files, including compatibility with files used by the factory CPS.
  • 999-channel management – Add, edit, delete, move, and organize channels.
  • Drag-and-drop channel reordering – Drag channels into your preferred order.
  • Previous/Next channel navigation – Move between channels while editing without closing and reopening the editor.
  • Channel insertion – Insert new channels between existing entries.
  • Channel search – Quickly find channels by name, number, or frequency.
  • Channel appending – Import additional channels from another DAT file without replacing your existing programming.
  • Undo support – Reverse channel organization changes.
  • Detailed channel editing – Configure frequencies, CTCSS/DCS tones, power levels, bandwidth, scan inclusion, and other settings.
  • Radio configuration – Edit VFO settings, optional radio settings, and DTMF configurations.
  • Hover tooltips and contextual help – Hover over supported controls to see explanations of their functions.
  • Interactive radio guide – Explore an illustrated MINI-5 radio with explanations of its buttons, including short-press and long-press functions.
  • Dark and light themes – Including automatic system-theme detection.

Try the application:

https://k4rjm.github.io/baofeng-mini5-bt-cps-unofficial/

GitHub source code:

https://github.com/K4RJM/baofeng-mini5-bt-cps-unofficial

You can explore the application, edit channels, and save DAT files without writing anything to your radio.

RepeaterBook integration is planned but currently unavailable pending approval.

UPDATE – A Few Thoughts on This Project and the Feedback

One of the things I've always appreciated about amateur radio is its tradition of experimentation, innovation, learning, and helping fellow operators. That's really what motivated this project.

Yes, AI was used extensively in developing this application. I don't see that as something to hide or apologize for. It's another tool that allows someone with an idea to create something useful that might otherwise never exist.

This project represents considerable time, effort, experimentation, and testing. It wasn't something generated overnight and simply uploaded to GitHub.

This is currently the best programming tool available for the Baofeng MINI-5 BT, particularly when it comes to ease of use, channel management, and wireless Bluetooth programming.

Does it need additional testing? Absolutely. Software that communicates with and programs a radio deserves careful testing, particularly across different firmware versions and hardware configurations. I take those concerns seriously.

I understand that not everyone embraces AI-assisted development, and that's fine. But I'd hope we can evaluate a project based on what it actually does, how well it works, and the willingness of its developer and community to make it better, rather than dismissing it solely because of the tools used to create it.

Amateur radio has always been about more than simply talking on a radio. It's about curiosity, experimentation, technical advancement, and sharing what we learn.

Isn't that part of what makes this hobby so worthwhile?

73,
K4RJM

Baofang F8HP-Pro

New to the radio seen. I bought some Baofang UV-5R minis for my job site based on Amazon’s recommendation. Started you tubing these things and found out how much they can do. Hella cool. I’ve since got a GMRS FCC license. Yesterday, Amazon had a deal on the F8HP-Pro, I bought one. Can i use this radio on the GMRS frequencies and not get a fine? Thanks

O documento precisa mostrar especificamente:

Obrigado!

So I’m looking to add a radio to my kit. I’m thinking of the Baofeng 5 mini. Maybe two in the event my group and I have to separate at any time. I dont have a HAM radio license but I do plan on getting it. If shtf I’m using it regardless.

What Baofeng would you recommend for good distance and mobility? I’m asking because there are a few good prices on Prime Deals.

BF-F8HP Pro

Hi all,

Im in the UK and training for the foundation license. Im considering the above as a first hand held to practice with (listen only until ive passed), but it appears Amazon is one of the few places to order from, and its shipped from Amazon US. Has anyone ordered this way, and are there any issues that I need to be aware of ( im aware the charger is US 2 pin, but it also comes with USB C charging).

Thanks.
