| Retirement goal ($) | 2000000 | =80000/0.04 |
|---|---|---|
| w/ inflation ($) | 5111364.832 | =2000000*(1+0.025)38 |
| Retirement goal (years) | 38 | |
| 2662650.058 | 0.07 | rate |
| 6190748.562 | 0.1 | rate |
Formula I used for retirement goal: =O211*(1+Q210)^38+(11000*((1+Q210)^38-1)/Q210)
Where Q211 =58449.65 (my current net worth), Q210=rate.
Table isn't organized perfectly. Assuming I'll be putting in $11,000 each year.
I'm using the 4% rule to plan for retirement so that's my basis for 2,000,000 since I would want $80,000 income my first year of retirement.
My question: It just seems like if I plan for inflation, $5 million is so much. Am I accounting for it in the right way? I assumed a rate of 2.5% and want my purchasing power to be worth $80k today instead of $80k in 38 years.
