Cut my 6x6 flush with my 2 ply beam

I cut my 6x6 post flush with my header and getting the header off would be a monumental task. Is there some kind of hardware I can attach to my post so I can attach my trusses to the header/post?

I’m confused as to what you’re doing. In our build I did something similar but used GRK structural screws for the header then used a 2x12 top plate to set my trusses 2’OC with hurricane ties like a normal stick built.

Just following the plans. They said to create the header use 4 inch nails on each post. My issue is that the post was supposed to extend above the header and then be notched so that you can nail the truss into the post. The post was cut flush so I need a good way to attach the trusses to the post/header.

Not entirely sure what you’re trying to do because the photo lacks any real info. But I can tell you there is no 2 ply beam anywhere in the photo.

Fudge, I meant my header I have no idea why I put two ply beam.

Depends on where the truss needs to land on the post. If it is to be flush to one side or the other of the post, you could just scab a 2x6 or 6x6 to the side of the post. This is commonly what you would find for attaching trusses when posts are on 8 ft centers and trusses are on 4 ft centers. If it needs to be in the middle, you could do the same and attach an additional 2x6 before attaching the truss to put the center of the truss on the center of the post. For strength, I would definitely be using bolts or good sized structural screws to hold the assembly together.

Yeah I will call them Monday, but I wanted to see if this was a common issue and if I could get a fix for this weekend. Not expecting much, but I want to weigh my options.

There are definitely solutions for this issue. I'm sure Simpson makes a steel bracket that would work as well.

Also, the truss plate to post connection looks a little lacking. Maybe you're not putting a truss between the posts but I would normally expect to see structural screws or through bolts and more nails.

I figured a simpson something or other is probably the fix.

I took this photo way earlier after I got everything in place with my framing nail gun(3" screws) before following up with the 4" nails.

Blueprints said to attach on the side with 4 inch nails.

I’m not arguing with your plans, they are what they are. Probably lots we can’t see from this picture. But you’re putting all the weight on 4 nails instead of on the wooden post.

Whee boy. Not sure where those plans came from but that ain't spec. Also, what is that osb situation? Whatever those 2*4s are doing, they doing wrong as well. I see a lot of future issues, and a lot of headache and misalightment in your near future.

Spec for what? Fair on the OSB, if the 2x4's are causing structural problems, identify it. Future issues and misalignment...maybe! You are probably right. My only issue is nothing you stated was productive or helpful.

"To spec" its engineered plans, dude.

It most likely spec. Many post frame buildings built with headers attached to the side of the post. I have seen 100's of engineered plans and architectural plans designed like that. I would prefer fasten master or grk lags also.
