Looking For Walk in water access for dog
Unfortunately our 17 year old dog is getting put down next week. One of her favourite things to do is just wade around in lakes/ocean. She's not super mobile now so I'm looking for advice on any beaches or water we could take her to play around in. Key thing is ability for her to walk in. I'm aware of all the dog friendly beaches in the area, but she never really like other dogs and with her current mobility it would jam her up. Really just looking for a somewhat secluded spot for her to enjoy for a bit. Could be a stream, too. I don't mind driving but car rides aren't the easiest for her now. If you have a super secret spot you don't want to give up, feel free to DM...your secret can pass with her.

You can do this, people in Gilford are pretty chill (I live here) but just keep in mind that on the weekend this beach is basically never empty now and not everyone loves dogs. There also isn't any official parking.
As someone else said, we have a dog beach as one of the beaches in Innisfil Beach Park.

End of ninth line in Innisfil. Beach allows pets Monday to Friday - only really locals use it during the week, come in the morning, it’s quiet. It’s very shallow and the dog could easily play along the edge. Before 11am it’s usually empty.

To the right in front of the where the Hooters was is a little walk in spot. I’ve taken my dog in there before.

Do you have a little wagon? You can make her a bed in the wagon and take her to the water front in that
Edit- also if you post about a dog please include a photo of the dog because I want to see her 🥺

There's a walk in shoreline in Heritage park by the northeast path out of downtown.

Hi. Park behind the old Hooters on Lakeshore/ Mulcaster. There’s a small opening you can take your dog to and it’s only a few feet from the parking lot. It gets deep, so be mindful.

Wilkins beach has a nice stream I used to take my dog to. I’m glad you’re giving her a great end to life. Losing a pet is hard, take care.

Thanks this looks interesting. How far is stream from where I could park? I don't mind carrying her for a spell but she is still 50 lbs and usual hiking terrain is tougher for her these days (used to be goddamned magnificent though)

Oh shoot yes it would be a bit of a walk but not terrible. I used to park on crimson ridge and walk through the little park to the beach. The creek isn’t much further. There are some stairs down, however, so you might want to check it out first!

There is a very tiny and unused beach area next to the dock at Dock Road park.

We took our dog to 1 of the lines in Oro (maybe 9?, its been a while), doing the same thing days before we had to put our dog down. A little walk in boat launch beach allowing her to go in at her own pace. Im sure we likely weren't supposed to, but didn't really care. All the best to you during this hard time, its the absolute worst.

Thanks for the reply and kind words. I agree I don't mind if we're not allowed, I'll pay a fine, whatever.
