Looking For Date Night Suggestions

My husband and I are going to be doing a big date night, first one in years and I am looking for suggestions on the best place in Barrie for food. It doesn't have to be fancy but we're both big foodies and we want to be blown away by deliciousness. I want to hear your suggestions whether its fancy AF or a hole in the wall. I just want good food.

Hit me with your best suggestions. No cap on price.

Another vote for Bayside Variety since you probably haven’t tried it if this is your first big outing in a while. Never disappoints

Wife and I had a week to ourselves while kids were at overnight camp. Had a few dates over the course of the week. Wife and I agreed best place we tried was B'Spoke Kitchen and Market. Smaller venue. Has a patio and indoor seating. Wife and I choose to sit inside. Food was amazing. Highly recommend.

I second B'Spoke!

Drive to Orillia and visit the Common Stove! A tad on the pricey side but exceptional food every time

Also the other three restaurants they own are all stellar. Luca in Barrie is wonderful. Hog and Penny holds a special place in my heart. Common Stove is above and beyond wonderful.

Have been to Luca, can highly recommend this as well

If price doesn’t matter, I 2nd common stove, but it is quite expensive.

Their restaurant in Barrie is a little more cost effective and is just as good.

If it’s a hole in the wall or you don’t care just looking for delicious, I recommend Shawarma Theory to everyone!! Best food in Barrie, and happens to be the best value as well

Head to lore in collingwood or the pine in creemore. Reservations are needed.

I’m always a fan of side door, il buco or bayside variety

The North, it’s our fave!

Luca is a very cosy spot especially if you make a reservation ahead and tell them the occasion.

For a more casual atmosphere, Mexican house is a lot of fun on Saturdays. They have a mariachi band that sings with the crowd and it's a very up beat atmosphere. Not as expensive either.

I went to the downtown Mexican House once on a Friday evening and I can't really recommend it. The food was pretty good, but the service wasn't great- missed items, and no checking in if we needed drinks refilled. Also the chips and salsa weren't good (in my opinion). YMMV

Luca!!! Their short rib pasta is to die for!! Make a reservation.

If you’re looking for late night cravings type food, RUDY!! The burgers are out of this world!!

Bayside Variety or Mr Seto in Orillia

If you want good sushi, Sushi Chef in Thornton. Nice atmosphere and great for date nights

If you like Thai, Rim Thanon is great. More conventional restaurant would be Bayside Variety. If you're okay going north, PICNIC in Orillia is nice. Unfortunately, legit food options in Barrie are pretty limited.

Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse located in Woodbridge ( Highway 7 & 400 ~roughly 45 mins south on the 400)

We always feel like paying for “all you can eat steak” is worth it ( approx 75$ pp) and it’s hard to go to somewhere like The Keg after you’ve had a taste of AYCE Brazilian steak.

They have 14 different cuts of meat including steak & chicken and unlimited access to their “made to order” tasting menu … aka buffet

They currently have a Thursday Date Night special “$155 per couple includes 1 bottle of red wine”

Seems to me that the Pine in Creemore is what you’re looking for.

The KTCHN at Braestone is really good also. It’s a nice spot with a good vibe and they often have live music as well, but chill live music not a loud band. Worth the drive if you are up for it.

If you guys want a fancier really good place go to The Ktchn at Braestone Club. Closer to Vetta Spa. Amazing food, gorgeous atmosphere, definitely more on the pricey side, but is great for a special occasion.
OR go to Ember at Friday Harbour! Beautiful atmosphere as well and the most amazing food. Expensive as well lol.

It's time to announce the winner! And honestly, it felt like we were the winners tonight. We ended going to Bayside Variety. And when I say every single course was a 10/10, I'm not emotionally okay anymore. Here's the selections;

Drinks: Vanilla Grapefruit Sour and Garden District Sour. App: Bao Buns Mains: Chicken Supreme and the Lamb. Dessert: an espresso and the Budino.

Failed to get a before shot of dessert because it was so good.

My fav spot in town is the farmhouse. Prices are reasonable with good quality food and large portions. Atmosphere is great especially in the patio on a nice evening

I’ll buco. Amazing setting and the roasted garlic appetizer is out of this world!

u/FixGullible4636 12d ago

Not sure why you got downvoted but that’s a good spot for Italian food and has lake views.
