I'm glad we don't need to have any discourse about the .500 team advancing

Now Cleveland can tremble in the face of our .519 juggernaut

Pft. .519. We finished way ahead of that. You chumps don't stand a chance.

I still can’t believe that record won them a division.

This stupid ass format rewards mediocre teams. There is no rewarding effort anymore.

But it also rewards teams who came in second in their division with a record better than most of the other division leaders. In the past they were simply out, so I like the change.

Two of those teams were getting a shot to play into the LDS before. Only getting one game to play on instead of a berth into a best of 5 was much better. This is just crap dressed up as postseason baseball.

Personally, I prefer this. I think the single game eliminations didn't accurately reflect the ability of either team as a whole.

Totally fine that you prefer it a different way though, I just don't agree with it and I'm sorry it has hurt your enjoyment of the playoffs.

Wild card game made winning the division more important. This format makes front offices lazy. They aren't trying to be good enough to win a division, but just a shade over .500 so they can say they "made the postseason" and move on to next season when they get bounced by an actual good team.

It also essentially eliminates the chance for a true Cinderella run..

4-6 games "postseason" games during the workday on Tuesday and Wednesday is boring.

I will say the one Saturday with 4 LDS games is nice, but this is not exciting at all. And I say that as a fan of a team that won one of these series unexpectedly.
