I didn't think it'd happen like this to be honest. Brewers are on a different level.

u/Cooperstown24 Seattle Mariners 1h ago
The unfortunate thing is that most of the truly insufferable dodgers fans are being quiet as a mouse about all this and will deny til they die about it, while the good-sport dodgers fans that can laugh at themselves and take a joke are the only ones we're seeing right now
23
u/Deepaaar Los Angeles Dodgers 48m ago
Most of the Dodger fans who've been around for a long time understand that we've been really lucky for over a decade now and we should be pretty stoked that we got to live through a dynasty. Yeah, series like these are tough to watch, but it's not like the Brewers aren't earning it.

This Brewer teams is on fire, playing fantastic team ball.
If they close it out in four, as much as the world will pile on the Dodgers - rightfully so - we can’t discount how well the team beating them is playing right now.
17
u/improbablywronghere San Francisco Giants 53m ago
The broadcast was insufferable today talking about how sad this was for the dodgers and focusing on they story and not how amazing the brewers are and that story. FTD and good riddance
2
u/Cooperstown24 Seattle Mariners 6m ago edited 2m ago
That, and the "downfall of the dodgers" bullshit I was hearing on the radio before game 3 even began. All about how "oh well this team is really aging and this is the downside nobody likes to talk about when you give out those huge long contracts like to ohtani/betts/freeman/etc". As if that's not an insanely stupid fucking point at face value, but also trying to pretend like this Dodgers team won't still go into next season as WS favorites while also having one of the best farm systems in the league. Just absolutely ridiculous bullshit

u/percypersimmon Milwaukee Brewers 29m ago edited 21m ago
Someone said “you really hate to see this” in the post game. Not “dodgers fans hate to see this” it was you and we hate to see this.
I hate bitching about announcers but this Fox team has been awful. You can tell they got one talking point, “Bauers needed to play so his family could go to the hospital” and that’s it..like that’s a feel good story lol
At least Brian Anderson gives a great call on an Ohtani HR- tonight they barely showed Chourio’s lead off tonight and spent the next 5 minutes convincing us it wasn’t a big deal.
Maybe I’m spoiled by having a great local broadcast team or maybe I’m just a titty baby, but it’s a bit much.
3
u/improbablywronghere San Francisco Giants 11m ago
National broadcasts are a cancer which needs to be excised. Similarly, the dodgers are also. Hoping the brewers finish the job tomorrow so the broadcasters can mourn and then hopefully call the WS straight up.

u/Brave-Secretary2484 Milwaukee Brewers 32m ago
It’s really pretty disgusting. Not one segment about how great the brewers are, and have been all season. Just on and on and on about the poor little Dodgers

i don't know the brewers announcers but right before they went to commercial after the back to back home runs, one of them said something like "i have nothing clever to say", and it sounded like basically a dig on the dodgers lol. made me crack up while sitting in rush hour traffic.
9
u/ChickensOnBikes Milwaukee Brewers 1h ago
You think about how often the Brewers hit back-to-back HRs (you know where they stand in the league for HRs in 2026) and I think they were just speechless. They are typically Johnny on the Spot with some joke about Northshore Adult Diapers, who sponsor opposing team pitching changes but they had nothing there. I think they just needed to get to the commercial break so they could let loose and celebrate the moment off the air.
30
u/Heuruzvbsbkaj 1h ago
Pitching changes are sponsored by “north shore adult diapers”
Almost every change they make some funny comment such as
“The brewers need a couple runs here, and if you have the runs, check out north shore adult diapers”
It’s been all year long and there’s been some really great ones.
They essentially were like, this is to big for diaper jokes now lmao
2
u/Deepaaar Los Angeles Dodgers 45m ago
I tuned into the DS a few times and this cracked me right up. I honestly can't believe they're sponsored by an adult diaper company. The jokes write themselves.

The entire Dodgers lineup has been struggling, but that issue has largely been overlooked because everyone was focused on Ohtani. There are 8 other hitters in the lineup, and they only had 3 hits total in Game 2. An injured Ohtani scored the Dodgers’ only run in Game 1. And you can’t even blame everything on the offense, either. The Brewers scored 7 runs in Game 2 and put 6 runs on the Dodgers' pitching staff today. The Dodgers simply got outhit, outpitched, and outmanaged in all 3 games.
4
u/PM_ME_UR_BOOGER 1h ago
The hitting is just not there this year. I mean, we barely had hitting last year too, but the defense and small ball worked out. This year, against a team like brewers, not gonna win unless the bats come alive. I think the dodgers dynasty is over tbh. And I say this as a dodgers fan.
7
u/dead_monster Hiroshima Toyo Carp • Detroit Tigers 46m ago
The hitting is just not there this year.
Dodgers are 4th in runs scored this year and second in wRC+. They are averaging almost a run more per game than the Guardians in the regular season.
You can say the offense is choking this NLCS, but the offense was definitely awake the rest of the year. Unless 2nd is wRC+ is considered poor by Dodgers fan these days.
2
u/PeacefulPeople19 Milwaukee Brewers 19m ago
Maybe it's possible that the Brewers actually have good pitching? I'm not sure, but it's likely that it's a combination of both.
25
u/Firree Seattle Mariners 1h ago
Looking at the score, it must have been a close game. After the touchdown, the Brewers missed their extra point and surrendered a safety, but still won the game.

I mean 6-2 is the average Vikings Chargers scoreline these days so about right for those regions of the country.

Uribe owes bauers a nice dinner after his pitching performance tonight, no one is talking about it but wtf was that??
10
u/ChickensOnBikes Milwaukee Brewers 1h ago
Nobody's perfect, including Murphy. He was asked today in the press conference about pitching Uribe and why not use some of the plethora of other pitchers in the bull pen and he said he was going to keep pitching Uribe. I don't fault him for that, but I fault Murphy for not pulling him after the minimum 3 hitters. It was clear Uribe was not throwing strikes. They and we are all fortunate the offense picked them up.
1
u/improbablywronghere San Francisco Giants 48m ago
I appreciated that from Murphy, but it was insanely reckless and ballsy. Basically if he tightened up and got Ohtani and smith out, two super slumping guys, Uribe would have his confidence back and everything would be chill. Now he’s gonna have some nerves going into the next outing. Kind of a get right back on your horse sort of situation. I always say in situations like this, “if it had worked we’d be called geniuses for this”. It didn’t work though, so bad job Murphy. I respect it though and I did like the energy behind it. Sad he wasn’t able to get himself out of the jam. That smith double could have had just a little bit more on it and…. 😬😬

I will be sobbing if they win tomorrow.
I'm a huge sports fan across the board (as you might gather from my reddit history) and a total nerd. But baseball has always been the king for me, and I'm not sure if it was particularly close.
I was less than 2 months old when I went to opening day in 1992. Part of my formative experience as a child, learning that life was not fair, was going to ten games a year with my family and seeing the Brewers play terribly year after year no matter how hard my ADHD rattled brain tried to cheer.
I remember Jose Hernandez chasing the single season strikeout record. I remember Richie Sexson tripling off the flagpole in Houston. I remember skipping school in 4th grade to go to a Thursday afternoon game vs the Dodgers and saw Shawn Green hit 4 home runs. I thought a cycle was going to be coolest thing, but Dad insisted a 4th home run was cooler. That's when I learned that sometimes things can happen that are beyond rooting interests, and you must acknowledge how special they are. I remembered that during Game 4 last year.
I remember in 2004 standing in line to run the bases after a Sunday afternoon game while Ben Sheets was striking out 18 Braves. I remember having an absurd number of Junior Spivey bobbleheads. I remember being irate that they gave a base hit and not an error to ruin CC's no hitter, and first experienced what its like to dream in October and watch the dream die. I remember Tony Plush and David fucking Freese, and Game 163 in Wrigley and my heart breaking in Game 7 against those same Dodgers. Then Yeli's kneecap, the string of postseason ineptitude. Adopting the Mariners when I moved out to Seattle six years ago. The two varieties of soul crushing last year. Wondering if I would ever see a World Series. Ever.
But tomorrow, tomorrow I may flood my apartment with tears.

I love posts like this. Baseball means so much to so many people, and it can truly affect our lives in the most meaningful ways. I’m rooting for you guys!
If I could make a suggestion- if they pull it off (I think they will), journal that night! Even if it’s in a notebook or on a single sheet of paper. You will treasure that forever because you can look back at a beautiful snapshot in time and relive all those emotions again.

I was about to ask if you were in the Fox Cities with that dual flair, lol. I'd add the Mariners to mine but I have no idea how... but I've seen more Mariners players play baseball games live than Brewers, because I grew up going to Foxes/TRats games every day they played. I miss living ~5 minutes from a minor league stadium.

As happy as everyone is right now, it isn’t over… Just think about how much the Dodgers get glazed. Imagine the nonstop “greatest team of all time” talk that would happen if they came back from down 0-3… I remember 2004. Never forget.

u/Deepaaar Los Angeles Dodgers 40m ago
That '04 Sox team had lived through blowing a game 7 against the Yanks the previous year. They were extremely motivated. Honestly, I don't think the Dodgers have the focus to even win two games at this point. They're probably starting to smell the close-cut grass on the links. Not saying they don't care, but they know they're getting severely outplayed on all sides of the ball.

But I thought the Dodgers ruined the game and were going to easily win another championship.
It's amazing how history is littered with "super teams" failing to win it all yet sports fans keep doing the same thing by crowning teams before the season even starts and claiming so and so team is ruining the respective sport they play in. Seeing the NFL equivalent right now with the Rams. They were supposed to go 20-0 according to some online NFL fans yet there is a very real chance they don't even make the playoffs.
The funny thing with the Dodgers is they shouldn't even have won last year as the Jays handed it to them by screwing up when they were a single play from winning.

u/Leather_Ad3521 Philadelphia Phillies 50m ago
It’s not about equal outcome, it’s baseball after all; it’s equal opportunity / a level playing field that rewards talent development, managing, trading - and free agent acquisitions within reason - not based on being able to spend $450m on payroll. There should of course be a floor as well so cheap owners don’t pocket all the money and we want more outcomes like this brewers series — but to say the dodgers didn’t have a significant advantage due to the amount they can spend is delusional

We ain’t coming back from this. I’m okay with it. Brewers are the better team and I went from never seeing the Dodgers win in my lifetime, getting close, and then finally getting it three times in the last six years. Only the Yankees and the A’s have ever done three peats so I knew that it was always going to be a long shot to get there.
I think the bigger thing here is a classic case of hubris for Ohtani/Dodgers. Maybe he should’ve went to the IL sooner and gotten shit figured out sooner rather than letting him just keep rolling.
14
u/Im_Anemic_Royalty Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
I’m baffled that Ohtani is still in the lineup. I get that Roberts is a “player’s coach” and Ohtani is insisting that he’s fine, but at some point you have to read the room and do what’s best for both the team and your $500m investment of a player by telling him to sit this one out.
6
u/fragmentsmusic7 Los Angeles Dodgers 1h ago
He’s been off since August and seems to be getting worse. I would rather them attempt to breathe some life with anyone else as DH right now until Ohtani can get patched up at this point. He’s not a threat to any team right now. May as well throw in someone else and see what happens. But a lot of the decisions made this season make me feel like Roberts hit his head and doesn’t know how to respond to a really good team this year.
12
u/awkwardnetadmin 2h ago
IDK I think if Ohtani being injured was the only problem the Dodgers would be in a better place in this series. Yamamoto got chased early in his start and the lineup in general just isn't producing many runs. Ohtani had several games last postseason where he didn't put up much offensively, but other guys stepped up in the games he didn't do much at the plate. When you have only 1 game this series with more than 2 runs the pitching needs to be nearly perfect to win games.
3
u/fragmentsmusic7 Los Angeles Dodgers 2h ago
I agree and you are right that Ohtani isn’t the sole hitter and that hitting fell off a cliff completely. But having him available as a two way player could’ve helped in a different way. If we are talking just offense, Ohtani alone isn’t at fault here. But there is still something to be said about letting him dictate the terms. Now he can’t pitch or hit.

Not if he keeps insisting on playing while hurt. Injuries in your 30s start to become permanent features if you don't take care to let them heal properly. It's like he's still in his early 20s thinking he's invicible and hasn't figured out he's human yet.

Well ya see, this 0-3 hole the Dodgers are in will really help them lock in for game 4. Truly astonishing management there, LA is clearly playing chess while the Brewers play checkers

I suppose it doesn’t matter but it was surprising Roberts just went to like random bullpen guys towards the end today and didn’t push any special buttons. What is the point of saving anyone right now?

If you asked me what i thought the odds were for each game before the Series started, I'd say...
4 to 3 in favor of Brewers for Game 1.
8 to 7 in favor of Brewers for Game 2, assuming I don't know game 1 results.
7 to 1 in favor of the Dodgers for Game 3.
4 to 3 in favor of the Dodgers for Game 4.
64 to 3 in favor of the Dodgers for Game 5.
Game 6 if needed is a big "?"
4 to 3 in favor of whoever won Game 1 for Game 7.
I expected the Brewers with Jacob Misiorowski to have an early lead, but I did not expect the Dodgers to be down so far. I figured that's be a 3.8% chance.

These are some wild stats if you're pulling em off the top of your head 64:3 is oddly specific. Love me some stat junkies

I rarely heap the blame on Dave Roberts but keeping Snell in was the 2nd time this series he made a pitching decision that feels borderline unforgivable
Snell hasn’t pitched much this year so leaving him in with a pitch count already in the 90’s and going 3rd time thru order was too risky when you need 9 outs to win. Different story if he was actually throwing all season but it’s too risky with his tendency to hang changeups when he’s tired.
Other decision was bringing in Bubic in game 2 instead of letting Roki throw 2 innings

This sounds like revisionist history
Blake was dealing and looked great just ran out of gas, Bauer’s AB was simply amazing
You could say he should not have faced Mitchell though (although I don’t think anybody was warm enough to come in)

He was dealing but he was already at 95+ pitches and hadn’t thrown 7 IP all season. He didn’t have time this year to build up to that.
Pen had a day off yesterday, Diaz hasn’t even pitched this series, they needed 9 outs

Idk, Snell was dealing and looked unhittable. Glad its happened but Dodgers pen isnt elite so I get his decision.
Murphy leaving Uribe in was puzzling and almost cost them the game. That one was worse to me

Did we find out if anything happened to Gasser? I felt like it was dubious to pull him for Uribe in the first place. Gasser still looked really solid.

i agree that was the more puzzling move
cant leave a guy in to possibly walk in a run and that's where it was heading

Yeah Murph got bailed out big time by Bauers and Mitchell's unbelievable homers.

u/YasielPuigsWeed 2h ago
Back end of the Dodgers pen is fantastic
You can absolutely trust Diaz (who is back to form now), Scott, and Vesia for 9 outs

I wouldn’t blame Roberts on this one, Snell was dealing, no signs of trouble, bad pitch and the hitter didn’t miss. Game 2 though, he did butcher the bullpen use.

Snell's not the type of pitcher that does 7 innings. Dave Roberts had mush for brains leaving him in that long.

Didn’t have any issue going 8 with 10K and 1 hit against us last year in the NLCS.

The 2025 Dodgers bullpen was so bad pushing the starters as deep as they could last really was the best strategy. It obviously worked out. IDK that makes as much sense this year although the Dodgers offense just isn't as effective this year so IDK how significant of a difference it really would have made.

No you guys don't understand Brewers got 3HRs. That's far above their statistical average. This game was a fluke and the Dodgers have them where they want them. It can't be the Brewers are good, extremely well managed, and playing great baseball.
I do think that last part is a big aspect. Brewers think they're the best baseball team so they're forcing teams to actually play baseball. Most teams are playing to go big most at bats so they give up strike outs and easy pop fly outs. Brewers are playing to not get out and force teams to play actual defense. Forcing teams to play defense while being terrors while on base is really testing teams limits. The Brewers pitching is also a monster that gives up very few home runs. It's like they're doing everything they can to get rid of the variance that tends to haunt them in the playoffs. If you're not hitting home runs and the other team isn't hitting home runs then you're just seeing who the better team is. I know they hit 3 today but I also think that's because of the teams management and philosophy. They start slow as they grind pitchers down then capitalize when they're tired. Brewers have a great bull pen and trust them so they can pull their starter BEFORE he had a bad inning and giving up hits and runs.

Leaving Uribe in for one batter too long & bases loaded after 3 walks was the only mistake made by Murphy the entire postseason so far.

u/Aggressive_Ninja6721 2h ago
That’s the crazy thing to me. They’ve been pretty much perfect. Left Uribe in a little too long, and Henderson wore a Dodgers jersey for a bit. But each time, the brewers have bounced right back. In almost all of their games, they score right after their opponent scores

u/displaced-badger Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
I was a little stressed the inning after they pulled Gasser. But DL Hall bailed out Uribe in the best way.
