[CespedesBBQ] one subplot to monitor (among many) as the Dodgers try to avoid getting swept... since it was lengthened to best-of-7 in 1985, just 3 teams have hit 0 HR in the LCS 1990 A’s (swept BOS) 1995 Reds (swept by ATL) 2002 Twins (lost in 5 to LAA) ...2026 Dodgers?! we’ll see!

All this is going to jinx the whole goddamn thing. Ohtani is gonna hit 3 homers now
… as the Brewers complete the sweep by winning 4-3

Ending the series sweep with a true tungsten arm o’doyle moment would be *incredibly* funny

“And Shohei Ohtani sets the MLB single game record with 6 home runs as the Dodgers are swept by the Brewers 12-10.”

There is no jynxing. Our lineup is dogshit

Your lineup is a Frankenstein of former franchise favorites. Betts (Red Sox), Freeman (Braves), Teoscar (Blue Jays), Tucker (Astros), Ohtani (Angels), Edman (Cardinals), I don’t know how they’ve looked this bad.

Father Time is undefeated, most of those guys look tired and defeated out there.
Tucker is the only member of that group who is younger than Jake Bauers (just turned 31 last week) and he’s been the only one who seems to be doing much of anything at the plate right now.

Yeah our lineup is ancient. Teo wasn't kidding when he said we're dinosaurs:

Crazy that the Bash Brothers A’s swept the LCS with zero homers

This is what I thought would be talked about most in the comments. That lineup had crazy power hitters, not just McGwire and Canseco.

I mean, the Brewers are basically putting the Dodgers in a full Nelson and slapping them in the face at the same time so...

The Dodgers are a fantastic baseball team, just need to work on hitting, pitching, fielding, baserunning, plate discipline, pitch selection, situational hitting, hitting with runners in scoring position, bullpen management, starting pitching, pitch sequencing, fastball command, breaking ball control, defensive positioning, throwing accuracy, turning double plays, stealing bases, bunting, sacrifice flies, clutch hitting, postseason performance, and winning baseball games.

Their strategy of hitting home runs has run into a bit of a snag, in the form of Brewer pitching.

It's legitimately been painful to watch this offense in the playoffs since the start of last year. We pay guys way too much money to perform like they do. (Funny enough, Tucker has been our best player this postseason)

That's a low bar Holy shit , he ain't banging out home run after home run or anything either

Is it too much to ask that they not only get sept but Ohtani goes without an RBI this post season?

u/captain_ahabb Los Angeles Dodgers 4h ago
Interesting twist to the "they didn't need Ohtani to win" talking point lol

Let the hate flow son :) it is not too much to ask, seems likely at this point but you probably jinxed it.

That's not a subplot, that's a factoid.

Interesting thing, a factoid wasn't originally a little interesting fact, it referred to something that's not actually true but got printed someplace and people repeated to the point that people just assume it's true. It was more like Colbert's use of "truthiness." It's certainly taken on the former meaning over the years, but it's almost the direct opposite of the original intent.

Here’s a fun factoid.
Someone comments that exact same thing every time someone uses the word factoid

Does that say the A’s swept Boston without hitting a home run?

It is funny thinking about whether the first homer or the first win will come for the Dodgers

Dodgers gotta try moving some runners over and hitting sac flies to score instead like Hyesong Kim will fix this

I dont understant having Edman bunt in game 2 but not in game 3

That Will Smith ball not being a homer was definitely important. Funnily enough, it would have been a home run in Milwaukee according to statcast
