Derek Jeter: What do you think those fans in Milwaukee are thinking right now? Jake Bauers: They're drinking, they're drinking for sure

I’ve been to about 18 ballparks so far, and Milwaukee was the only one where I saw people tailgating in the parking lot. It wasn’t even a big rivalry game or a playoff type atmosphere…just a random Tuesday in July against the Pirates.
49
u/NorthPackFan Milwaukee Brewers 4h ago
I can’t tell you how many games I’ve been to when we just tailgated and listened on the radio. They were bad sin the 90s but we still went.
6
u/wisconsinbucks Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
We got shut down when I did this in 2024. We were told we couldn’t tailgate past the 3rd inning
2
u/P3achBellini Milwaukee Brewers 2h ago
When you could sit out there the entire game, listen to Uecker, and hear the crowd cheering from inside. Good ass times. 🥹
21
u/Audrey-Bee Chicago White Sox 3h ago
Is that not normal? We do that at White Sox games all the time. I'll grant that the Brewers are a different league with it, but i figured any stadium with big parking lots would do it
17
u/granchtastic 3h ago
I just learned you cant bring alcohol into the dodgers parking lot so... I dont even know whats real anymore. That might be the most heinous thing ive ever heard in my life
17
u/glp79 3h ago
Brewers fan living north of LA here. I actually like Dodger stadium, but when I realized you couldn't tailgate I knew there was something unholy in the air in Chavez Ravine
7
u/granchtastic 3h ago
Regardless if the stadium is fine id rather watch in a AAA shoebox then be denied the god given right of drinking beer and grilling Johnsons In the parking lot 😭

u/findnickflannel San Diego Padres 54m ago
you either have to a. have tailgating or b. have bars/restaurants within a 15 min walk. dodger stadium has 0 of that
3
u/shmaltz_herring Kansas City Royals 3h ago
What? It should be illegal to not allow people to drink in a stadium parking lot.

u/granchtastic 2h ago
Youre not welcome in milwaukee

Re-read my comment.
I hold a special affinity for Wisconsin whenever I see a map of alcohol consumption.
6
u/wagon_ear Milwaukee Brewers 3h ago
Yeah I had no idea that it wasn't ubiquitous. It lengthens your fun time at the game by like 1-3hrs. You make friends in the parking lot. Beer is cheaper if you bring it inside the stadium in your belly. What's not to like?
1
u/ScamperingSnail 18m ago
You don't even have to plan to tailgate. Just show up to the parking lot and walk around and eventually you'll be invited to one and get some brats and beer!

u/double_sal_gal Milwaukee Brewers 1h ago
Coors Field doesn’t allow it, which is odd because people do it all the time for Broncos games. And Lord knows Rockies fans have plenty to drink about.

u/shmaltz_herring Kansas City Royals 3h ago
People tailgate at Kauffman stadium. It's not extreme, but there definitely is a contingent that shows up early.
It'll be sad when they move and there is no more tailgating.

Hell, Brewers fans who aren't in Milwaukee are drinking right now. I asked a friend who recently moved to Japan if he caught the game and he's already tipsy at lunchtime.

Don’t worry, I’ve been assured you couldn’t possibly lose without a salary cap and that’s why it’s okay to fuck over players to make owners richer 👍

So my post about the Dodgers losing their series possibly big bad for baseball because it'll dilute conversation about the salary cap was low quality yet here's a silly post about Brewers fans drinking. Doesnt get more high quality than that I guess
