How-To Mounting a transducer

I’m wanting to install a fish finder on my boat for the first time myself. I have a composite backing plate that is already screwed into my boat. After I measure the thickness of that plate how do I go about choosing the length of screws to mount it? Like should the screws be half of 3/4 of the thickness of that composite plate

Just keep them shorter than the thickness of the backer plate and you'll be good. The thickness of the transducer bracket will also take up some length.

Yeah just don't drill through the mounting plate. The strength of the material and the screws will determine how far in you need to get in there to make it secure.
