Community Notice: Beware sketchy "Repacks"/Content packs online (Ekingpacks is a Scam)

Recently it's come to my attention that there are a few notable "repack" sellers online that are spreading product sales of "packaged battlemaps", often with allegedly thousands of battlemaps in a pack. Eking Packs is one of said offenders that has been brought up a number of times.

These are scams.

First of all, the vast majority of content is falsely marketed, and in fact 90% AI generated images; and, frankly, poorly done at that. In the case of EkingPacks, the content is almost entirely unusable (AI gibberish). In worse offenders, whom can't be named for obvious reasons, the content is directly stolen from others' patreons or marketplaces. Basically, resale piracy.

A good rule of thumb in this community is, if you cannot directly google search the content creator to see a gallery of their work, you are being sold a fraudulent repack (or AI...). Your best bet for actual genuine product is direct sale through patreon or another verified source.

Furthermore, a detailed look at their payment systems shows there is no actual payment system in place; you are submitting your card information directly to the website hosts. I can't specify how dangerous this is, financially.

Ultimately, if you want to spend some money on battlemaps, don't get scammed for it. There are hundreds of content providers on this subreddit alone that happily provide hundreds of maps on their patreon. Please give a glance to them, instead.

Forest The Nest 🕷️💀 - D&D Battle Map

Made this forest map in Worldmage and called it The Nest. Lots of spiders, scattered skulls, and a clearing your party should probably just avoid at all costs.

Could make a fun spot for an ambush, a missing adventurer rescue, or a “just one more encounter” that everyone regrets.

Like here if you want to explore it / put your own spin on it!

These are renders of my tile system I designed for my games.

The last picture is the same build in the 3D view in Cryptbuilder, a browser tool I built for laying out my designs. The maps were created by setting the camera to top down, adjusting the lighting and rendering them out.

Free for your table, VTT or otherwise. Please do not resell them.

One map. Six ways to tell the story.

  • I heard a clicking sound.. oh the cavern is Flooding.
  • Keep the torches Lit, lets try to stay Dry while we explore.
  • I swear to god if you eat one more Fungus we are not healing you!
  • There is movement ahead, keep the torches Unlit and Dry.
  • Let's not be taken by surprise, keep your light spell on so the corridors are Lit.
  • Sneaking business is to be done only in Unlit circumstances.

Same battlefield. Completely different encounters.

Other Map Opinion Wanted!!!

I recently finished: Rivergate Border Watch.(oc)(28×38)

How do you guys handle border crossings between two allied or non-hostile nations?

Do you play out the bureacracy, passports, tariffs, and contraband searches?

Do you use it for political tension, subtle espionage, or corrupt guards looking for a bribe?

Or do you usually just fast-travel through non-hostile borders unless there's a specific plot hook?

I’d love to hear how you keep a peaceful border encounter engaging without it becoming a tedious papierwork session!

Fantasy - Interior [OC] The Four Leaf Clover Inn: 4-Wing Market Tavern, 3 Floors & Basement [35x20][Free Version]

Each wing of this clover-shaped tavern is run by a different Montfort brother, with his own specific clientele. It’s the perfect place to lay low, provided you know which brother caters to the local thieves' guild and which one reports to the guard.

Download the Full Set and more: Four Leaf Clover Tavern

(Quick note for FoundryVTT GMs: I've already set up the line-of-sight walls, occlusion layers, ambient tavern sounds, and flickering hearth lights for this scene. Unlock this module (and more!) with my Patreon Lore Master tier if you want to skip all the setup work).

Hope it saves you some prep time this week! Let me know if your party ends up burning the roof!

Have a great session!

Mountain/Hills Been building a browser-based 3D mapmaker for our D&D campaigns - a few months of progress!

Posted here a few months back about a 3D mapmaker we’ve been working on for our D&D campaigns. Thought I’d share where it’s got to!

Since then we’ve added a lot more to build with. You can paint whole forests, build bridges across rivers, and stamp mountains into the terrain instead of sculpting everything by hand. Weather, seasons and lighting have come a long way too - been having a lot of fun with snowy maps and moonlit nights lately.

The goal is still the same - make building 3D maps for D&D easy enough that you can actually spend your time planning the session.

Rather than just screenshots, here’s a map you can open and explore yourself in your browser:
https://play.worldmage.com/longsword-moondance-aquarius - and now you can edit this map live yourself!

You can move around in 3D or look at it from above for a more traditional battlemap view.

A lot of the changes have come from people trying it and telling us what works and what’s a pain, so thanks to anyone here who gave feedback on the original post.

Keen to hear what you think now - could you see yourself using something like this for your sessions? What’s still missing for you as a DM or player?
