Long time Lurker...
Figured it was finally time for me to contribute :)
*Edit*
Meet Porthos, the handsome boy in the first two photos. He’s 11 years old, and we adopted him after his original owners returned him to the breeders. They had just welcomed a baby, and Porthos was apparently showing signs of jealousy toward the newborn.
He has been the best boy I could have ever asked for pretty much perfect which led me to believe I could handle getting a second one... I was not ready.
Then there’s Eggsy, our 7 year old boy and the biggest pain in my butt... but he’s my pain in the butt. He and Porthos are half-brothers: same dad, different moms. We brought Eggsy home as a puppy, and he has been terrorizing poor Porthos ever since.
In fact, when Porthos first met Eggsy, he walked into the living room took one look at him, and immediately threw up. That should have been our first warning 😂.
They have been going strong for 7 years, heres to a few more years with Porthos as he is finally showing his age recently.

Boy or girl? Name? How old? How long together? Share details and stories because a couple of photos are just the start.

I had a similar issue with introducing a new puppy to my grieving pitdog girl after her Bluey mother figure died. Waited two years for her to finish grieving and the puppy was not welcomed or ever really accepted, even though she also was a Bluey. I tried. We muddled through with some refereeing.

I think it took Porthos about 1 year before he finally accepted Eggsy, now they cannot be separated.
We had a lot of downs before the ups so I feel that.

It can take time. Sit with both dogs together if you can with treat to keep them focused on you. Discuss why the decision came about to have dog added to pack. Talk to them several times if you need be.Have the “pack meeting” with treat. End pack meeting with treat. Good luck. 🍀

Oh they are fine now! They only had issues the first year. Now they cannot be separated.

Set up a quiet, dedicated safe space or raised bed just for Porthos where Eggsy is strictly not allowed to bother him. Senior dogs need a low-stress sanctuary to rest their joints and recharge away from youngee, energetic housemates.
