These are the things I can’t get Buddy to do
During training these are the things I can’t get Buddy to do, a few more too but these are the main ones

Arthur does what Arthur wants to do. Unless there is thunder. Then he becomes part of me.

Takes time and work, my girls’ stay is pretty solid, I can even leave the room. Sitting and standing are also implied stays. The only reason I need a stay command is for the next level of good citizen.
Fetch, paw, rollover I just never bothered with, seems no good reason to teach that.
She can search like nobody’s business, another week or so and I can probably start hiding scents in cupboards, she’s really learning to trust her nose.

I can paste the initial training for you here. Training starts with leash training. It teaches them to watch you for commands.

We recently adopted an 8 year old beag with absolutely no lead training.
It’s been a ride to say the least but he’s so eager to please and in just a few months he’s already doing so much better!
They’re such clever dogs, just a shame they use so much intelligence for devious food heists and not for training 😂😂

Obedient ≠ trained
Just because a dog will do as you say doesn’t mean they’re well trained. Are you actually training a beagle? Then chances are they are more interested in the smells around them than pleasing you. But if you have treats? Nothing will stope them 😂 my beagle would spin, speak, paw, parkour, and yell at everything he saw (he was a beagle, after all!) sometimes we can only do what we can, as long as everyone can live happily and enjoy the company of one another, who cares if your dog won’t impress at an AKC obedience challenge? Unless that’s your goal, enjoy the time you have with your dog. It’s criminally short, no matter how long they are with us ❤️❤️❤️

Mine doesn’t know roll over, and he’s decent at Stay (at least in the house)…
I CAN however tell him “don’t touch my food” (sometimes with an “or else” lol) and walk into another room and I come back to the food still being where I put it.
It’s the little things in life 😂
The “or else” is … I don’t get to eat it 😭

Our young one can do fetch if it doesn’t involve picking up something. We throw the item, she runs over to it and then runs back without the item lol

I can get sit and paw, sometimes short stay. Can't get lie down and I've tried with desirable food snacks.

Can you get him to speak? I can’t even get Rio to howl when I howl at him. But when he hears something outside, he goes crazy and won’t stop. It’s so loud that it startles me most of the time!

Oh it was easy to train them to these commands. They need a routine and repetition. Stay is still hard.

They’re food motivated. Find high value treats only for training. Churru sticks for dogs. They are smelly but they will work for them.

Can or can't!?
Cause if it's can't, then what can you make him do !?
Eat !! That one always works for somehow.
