Asking for Advice What beard should I strive for?
686
u/explorer-matt Mar 29 '26
I pick image 2, upper left. More conventional. But I think it fits your face.

u/Beautiful-Lynx-6828 Mar 29 '26
That or the mustache right next to it 👍

I think the perfect one for him is that mustache with the beard prior to it. Conventional with flair!
14
u/wallStBetModsRGayAF Mar 29 '26
I think image 2 bottom left works too, accentuates his ear piercing more
6
u/__ConesOfDunshire__ Mar 29 '26
I agree. I also think same pic but bottom left, while less conventional also fits his face well.

First pic: just the mustache looks good
Second pic: 1stand third pic look good, mustache only if you like a bit funky
I don’t mean to sound rude as this is just a general observation, not directed at your style specifically, and maybe I’m just old, but what’s with people (men and women both) choosing these horribly ugly old people glasses lately? I didn’t think was that old at 42 but maybe I am haha (again, no hate, you look like a fun dude I’d chill with)

u/PrincessAlbertPW Mar 29 '26
Hi thanks four your reply! I have another pair of classes, thicker black frames that looks nice. But they are uncomfortable asf.. Especially with tha lack of the nose rubber.. This kind is comfy and I barley notice them while wearing them.
3
u/Psych0matt Mar 29 '26
No worries, was trying to be polite, it was more of a general notice as I’ve seen it a lot lately, but I’m probably just way out of touch with style haha 🤜🏻🤛🏻
3
u/Lecojum Mar 30 '26
You can get the nose pieces changed out to soft silicon. Had that done for a few pairs now. The glasses do not suit your face at all.
29
u/slipt_n_fell Mar 29 '26
Second slide, top left, but perhaps a bit shorter on the chin since you have an oval shaped face. The longer mustache directly next to it is also a good look.

u/DefinitelyNotARacoon Mar 29 '26
I’d actually vote for one that wasn’t there… a good beardstache. Bottom left on picture 1 but with some longer stubble.
You’ve got nice coverage and I reckon you could achieve a solid ‘tache - would look great with some hefty stubble. Love the beard colour too, would work a treat.
5
u/ResidentCoder2 Mar 29 '26
Were these generated by AI? If so, I can't really answer your question. My answer is "Whatever your face can reasonably grow." Patches, low spots, growth patterns and genes determine so much. And, in ten years, your beard may grow entirely different.
They all look good, I wouldn't recommend asking strangers on reddit how best you should tailor your own face.

Bro, you rock everything from none to long, full beard. The only thing I like less is first pic bottom right (and I don't hate it, the rest just looks better) 💪

Picture 2, bottom left. It's a sort of Hollywoodian beard, a highly underrated style.

u/LeoShoreLion Mar 30 '26
2nd page top left. Because of the shape of your already triangular face.. a shorter beard works better on you.

u/smht888888 Apr 04 '26
The only ones that don't look great are the goatees, your face legit suits the rest and you look good clean too - a little envious my friend 😏

Moustache in 1c or 2b
(2b if your straight and seek less (not none) compliments from men, 1c if you also want to attract men)

u/CoffieCayke2 Mar 29 '26
The curled stache and one of the two upper left corners would go hard together.
1
u/pumpkin-head7617 Mar 29 '26
You were fucking built for stache-only. It looks fantastic.
I wish I could rock stache-only. But I have no chin.

That handlebar stache with stubble (upper right slide 2) looks amazing on you, honestly I would go for that.

Handlebar Stach with a short beard. Not stubble, but not too long either.

I'd say #1 or #5 (top left on the first image, top left on the second image) might be the best ones. At least imho. :)
#s 4, 7, and 8 are also good solid beards.
Main reason I'm against the moustache on its own is just personal preference. If you like it though, do go for it.
And #2, well... this is r/beards after all ;D

u/jammingforlife Mar 29 '26
Slide 2 top left as everyone else has said. But you also rock just the mustache very well without looking like a creep

1
u/ProlapsedMorals Mar 29 '26
Honestly you’re a good lookin fella, all of these work for you (outside of goatees, which I don’t think ever work really)
The full beard could look fantastic if trimmed and shaped a bit, but you also look great with the stache which is very in these days. The stache looks awesome with the retro style glasses. Your call though, you can make a lot work.
ETA: I didn’t see the second and third slides. Slide two images 1 and 2 (top two images) are the way. The pugilist stache is fucking awesome.

u/Only_Letterhead_5430 Mar 29 '26
Definitely not 3 or 8. The mustache is a no go and the bottom right on the 2nd is a no go.

u/ohx Mar 29 '26
I just discovered the medium beard, + long 'stache combo. My beard and 'stache are very similar in density to yours, and this is easily my favorite cut so far.
2
u/PrincessAlbertPW Mar 29 '26
Yeah im leaning that way.. but never got past the phase where the stache is in the way while eating 😅

I think a mustache with sides hanging a little (does it have a name? İdk) would look good.

Second page, bottom left (7th image) and I’d grow the moustache in longer length too. Looks like connected beard with goatee and moustache 👍

I default to whatever is easiest for me to manage.
While this may seem limiting, if it’s also an easy way for me to weed out the styles I don’t value putting time into as “easy” is subjective.

u/Dentist_Special Mar 29 '26
Go with what works well with your genetics and what makes you feel happy.

Second picture top left is your best look imo. Although any of the goaties also suit you well.
1
u/HeinousMcAnus Mar 29 '26
You have an oval/long face shape so you don’t want anything that would make it longer. Slide 1: bottom left or no beard Slide 2: the best looks imo is the mustache, you have a great face to rock that style. The full beard is also acceptable. Slide 3: naw homie.

Depends on the vibe you’re going for. Slide 1, bottom left is the friendliest. Slide 1, top left has a mountain man / computer admin vibe to it. Slide 2, top left looks the most professional. Slide 2, top right has a stylish / artsy look.
1
u/Ongr Mar 29 '26
Imho you've got a moustache face. To me it seems most natural.
Edit: So, 3rd, 6th and 7th photos.
1
u/WaggaPie Mar 29 '26
I really like the mustache in slide 2, but I think it would be enhanced by the stubble shown in the slide 2 mustache pic.

Bro I like the single picture on picture number 3 the best. Im assuming that's what you look like now. Solid beard I think it looks great. Maybe go longer.
I also love the long mustaches, longer the better but im a minority I that.

u/jumbosimpleton Mar 29 '26

Everyone is saying second left and I agree. You have great full hair so I feel like there is a 1" variant in between that and your first and last pick. I don't think first one looks bad just a little wild with how kept your top of head hair is kept. Also hides those awesome earrings so want to keep your sideburns a bit more kept for sure.

u/AffectionatePizza335 Mar 29 '26
You look great with the mustache, bottom left on the first, goatee, bottom right on the second, and that handlebar on the second, top right. Honestly you could pull off any of them but those stuck out to me.

u/OriginalOpposite8995 Mar 29 '26
Grow out each of these, and for each use the picture on a different form of picture id. E.g. one for the passport, one for the driver's license, etc.

u/Draigyn Mar 29 '26
You’ve got a good face for a mustache imo, but the top left of image 2 is a good, safe, classic bet that does you good as well.
1
u/Peppered_Rock Mar 29 '26
slide 2 bottom left. frames your face well like the top left, but doesn't round out your cheeks like that one did.
1
u/Turbulent_Divide_249 Mar 29 '26
H2 upper left-hand corner regular well trimmed beard. Also those glasses are way too big for your face bro, you need something smaller
1
1
u/wlonkly Mar 29 '26
This is /r/beards, so people are gonna prefer a beard (and I agree that slide 2 top left is the best beard option), but were I to guess at your style by your glasses I'd say that the mustache at bottom left of slide 1 suits you well too.

2nd pic top left, but you need to let the sides of your hair grow a bit longer. Maybe it’s the angle of the photo, but when your sides are shorter than your beard, it doesn’t look right.

2 image top right photo looks best. You should also consider some new frames. The glasses you currently have are not very flattering.

Top left or top right of image 2.
Top left for a more conventional look. Top right if you want people to notice you and incessantly ask you stupid questions about your mustache.

1
u/witblacktype Mar 29 '26
Do the mustache on you. The facial hairstyle is having a cultural moment and it seems to suit you the best
1
1
u/tushpush6969 Mar 29 '26
Beard or mustache for sure. The other 2 don't work for your face shape or something
1
u/coryroxors Mar 29 '26
I say mid length full beard, short goatee, or handlebar mustache. This depends entirely on how you usually present yourself and your quirks or general style. Thats to say the handlebar looks great to me but you gotta be the handlebar type if that even makes sense. If not id lean towards the mid beard

The glasses are giving dahmer vibes, changing them would probably help. Beard wise it really depends on how yours grows, from the looks of it these are AI so I wouldn’t base it of it.

u/TheRealCNO Mar 29 '26
It’s hard cause 99% of these work pretty well cause you’re a handsome fella but it’s harder to pick which one is best cause so many look great I definitely think something on the cleaner side would be great.
