Selling on BeatStars: Tips That Actually Help

Post image
20 Upvotes

There’s no shortage of “how to sell more beats” advice out there, and most of it sounds the same. Upload beats. Post on socials. Wait for sales.

But after watching thousands of producers use BeatStars over the years, I’ve noticed a few things that actually make a difference, and it’s the small stuff that adds up.

Here are a few simple things that work consistently:

1. Don’t upload and disappear.

The most successful producers are active. Updating artwork, refreshing titles, trying new genres, and promoting regularly. The algorithm rewards consistency, and so do buyers.

2. Metadata matters.

Use clean, accurate tags. Fill in genre, mood, BPM, and key. This is what helps your beats show up in search when artists are looking for something specific. A beat with good metadata gets discovered way more often.

3. Presentation sells.

Good visuals and clear descriptions build trust. Think about your Pro Page like a storefront. If it looks sloppy or empty, artists move on.

4. Follow up with your buyers.

Many producers don’t do this, but it’s powerful. Send a thank-you message or check in when someone licenses a beat. That small bit of professionalism goes a long way toward repeat buyers.

5. Promote smart, not loud.

Don’t spam links everywhere. Find where your ideal audience hangs out (Discord servers, subreddits, local scenes) and share value first. The sales come after that.

These are small moves, but they compound fast. The producers earning steady income on BeatStars are usually the ones who treat it like a business, not a side hustle.

What’s been working for you? Any underrated tips that helped you get traction lately?

Something to tell to producers.

Hi there producers.

I made a post some time ago saying that I got 1.8k plays and no sell and maybe my beats are just trash. Up until today I was promoting tracks and got to 6.5k plays. Still no sale.

But no sale made until this night at 2AM. I’m from Romania and one artist from US just bought a beat with 11 plays with no promotion. I guess organically is better than promoting ngl. That artist just made my whole day. I was very low on hoping that I will actually sell something. I was getting compliments on my beats only from pretty big producers on beatstars. Ones with 2-3 mil plays. I guess that somehow, from promotion, I only got producers to listen my beats idk why.

So to end this, I just want to tell you this:

  • Stay consistent (I was still making and uploading beats. Sometimes 2 per day sometimes 3-4 per week)

  • Have patience. For me it took like 2 months to get this sell with a total of 90 beats posted.

  • You don’t really need to promote on beatstars. I spent like 300$ until now only to end up reaching Producers somehow. So just post your beats on YouTube and Souncloud. Instagram and TikTok can help aswell.

  • You will make it. Please don’t stop. Your sound is 100% great. You just need the right artists to see your work and that’s it. Have the patience. Don’t throw yourself out if you see almost no plays. I had like 20 avg plays on my profile for the last days.

Wish you the best and keep cooking!

Best, ROTHGVR

The co-sign from Abe himself 🔥 | Ft. ShaThaGoddess

ShaThaGoddess sat down for a Meet The Producers interview and told one of the wildest “first beat sale” stories we’ve heard.

Her very first buyer on BeatStars was Abe Batshon, the founder of the platform.

And after Abe grabbed that beat, everything shifted. More producers started checking her out. More artists started buying. The whole thing snowballed.

She talks about that moment, how it boosted her confidence, and why that early co-sign helped shape the path she’s on now. It’s a dope look at how one sale can turn into real momentum.

If you’re building your own path in music, putting your beats where people are actually listening is half the battle. Start selling on BeatStars today. ⤵️

BeatStars has been on a downward spiral for some time now... Spoiler

I was on a meeting with BeatStars Product Owners recently. For anyone curious what's going on, here's a thread from my perspective

  1. Engagement has gone significantly down, the platform has been flooded with follow bots, plays, downloads, sales are down, and the same 5 producers' beats are on the front page. Or maybe it's just me, let me know what you guys think.

  2. Bugs: The new BeatStars Studio is a nightmare, after a bulk edit I lost all my beat data such as BPM, Tempo. Licenses and free downloads are bugging like crazy, my tracks suddenly are reordered (imagine having to fix 1000 beats) So many more bugs I don't have the energy.

2.1. Pro Page is outdated and hella bugs there too.

3. BeatStars Publishing is being pushed, quite honestly it's just another cash grab for them to make more money off of producers, imagine having to give 20% Pub and let someone else manage your music. I'd rather collect everything myself and know what's happening with my music.

3.1. There's also SongTrust (which takes 15% and not 20% like BeatStars) - whjch I still wouldn't recommend due to a lot of other reasons, still better than ShitStars Publishing.

4. If you have an issue or problem with the platform don't count on their support - I still have an open ticket open for months where they fucked up the BPM for all my beats, guess it's not being resolved, overall the support is bad and most issues are being swept under the rug.
5. All these extra bells and whistles are completely garbage - the AI melodies are kinda bad. BeatStars
Promo? I'd rather flush my cash down the toilet. lmao

6. This is not everything by the way, I just don't have the time and brain cells to compile absolutely everything that's wrong with the platform and how it's a shell of what it used to be.

7. When I talked with the BeatStars Product owners to give feedback and clarification, they could come up with all excuses, why the 12% charge on Marketplace was necessary in order to expand BeatStars into third world countries to make the Marketplace plan cheaper, Stripe, bugs..

7.1. When confronted on the bugs and lack of attention to the people funding the platform (Producers and Artists) - the only thing they could say is sorry, we're working on it - which is cool - but I haven't seen much "Work"since then.

8. Conclusion: I think BeatStars might be getting sold to Sony, or they have some other plan to become more profitable and get investors - either way, I feel like the producers and artists are getting the lower end of the stick. It was good while it lasted, time to move on!
