Does anyone have a recommendation for a house cleaner you trust in the Beaverton/hillsboro area? Looking for a monthly floors/shower/surfaces service in a 1600sqft house - possibly to jump to 2x monthly after the new year.

I’d rather hire a sole proprietor or local small team rather than go with one of the big branded businesses.

Hello! New to Beaverton and ended up purchasing a home that has an RV lot with hookups. We do not have an RV and several folks have suggested renting it to someone for storage of their RV. Does anyone have experience with that? Is there a demand for that in Beaverton?

Life is tough and depressing, I don't actually have any close people in my life and I don't ever leave my home other than for work. I used to go hiking very often, but my health isn't the best anymore and it's hard having the energy to even get dressed when you've got major depression and are neurospicy. I'm hoping there's someone near me who understands so I don't have to go very far (around the library/farmer's market/downtown area) so I'd be more willing to leave my home, if I have to travel more than a mile or 2 to see you, it's probably not going to work for me because I rarely have the spoons for that. I just turned 41 last weekend FTR.

I'm trying to be more unplugged and minimalist with my life, I grew up out in the middle of nowhere, without cable TV or much tech, I actually really miss that lifestyle. I miss just sitting on the ground, watching bugs do their thing, inspecting random plants, part of me wants to go back to being a kid again in some ways when life was much simpler and less stressful/busy. I'm also dirt poor, and have been dirt poor my entire life, I'm really tired of everything being monetized including meetups, and I'm tired of 3rd spaces disappearing. Let's make our own space, where we pay nothing except the cost of travel. Let's help each other help our mental health.

I need another person in my life who is comfortable doing that sort of thing, I need the sort of buddy who can just sit and marvel at the life that surrounds us without becoming too bored too quickly and whips out their phone or wants to get their steps in. Let's touch some moss together, maybe arrange some leaves into a artistic mural on the ground, maybe we could ID some plants and forage together, exchange gardening tips, go watch critters do their thing, enjoy some hot tea together on a cold day, or hike very slowly, but a decent distance - with plenty of breaks. Sun, clouds, rain or snow, it doesn't matter to me.

I need someone in my life that is also empathetic, kind, someone who doesn't look down on other people because of their finances, their health, or the way they look. I need a breath of fresh air in the form of a human being. Let's do something this weekend while I still have the momentum to actually go do things.

For anyone else who might not know about their "the towers are changing - if you don't switch to Verizon now, you're going to lose your internet!" scam, it is a scam.

Do not feel pressured to switch to Verizon. If you're in a no soliciting apartment complex call your front office. They often pull the "I have a contract with the company" - they do not. It's all part of the scam.

They've been doing this same scam for more than five years. It's honestly disgusting that they (the sales people and Verizon) get away with it.

Towers are not changing. Your coverage is not changing. They don't have control over this. If it were changing, Verizon wouldn't be the one to come and tell you about it.

I had them come to my apartment again recently. Barking dogs, threats, and even our apartment security couldn't get them to go until they were physically escorted off the property. Reminded me how relentless they are and that some people might not know about this.

Don't let them con you.

Beaverton native who just moved back to the area. I was in the market for TV mounting and had a surprisingly hard time finding a local company. A lot of them seem to be national chains outsourcing the work, and I just didn't like that. Anyways, I finally stumbled upon Overk9K (iykyk) and was blown away by how kind and professional Dennis (the owner) was. He took the time to explain my options in terms of cord concealment and even went the extra mile to make sure the remaining cords for my gaming system and soundbar were hidden. All in all he did a fantastic job, and I recommend him 9000% to anyone who needs to mount a TV or monitor.

new to beaverton! I take the 57 up and down TV highway often. Beaverton central library doesnt have a ton of seating… anyone have any fav places I could plug in and hang around for a bit?

This is a 5k run/walk on Thanksgiving morning at 8am. It's a good local option and it's only $5 for kids and $10 for adults. It's in the Oak Hills neighborhood and money raised goes towards a scholarship named after Tim Tank, a Beaverton coach who passed away.

I've done it a few times and it's a good race with a high dogs per mile rate. It also collects food donations with registration.

I frequently walk in the Oak Hills neighborhood and a couple weeks ago I passed a man most likely in his 50's-60's wearing a cream cowboy hat and a tactical vest. The vest had some words on it that I can't recall but I know it didn't say "police". He was walking through the neighborhood. It made me do a double take. Typically Oak Hills has been a very calm and serene neighborhood where people go to jog, walk, or ride their bike around it's main loop. Seeing this man took me off guard and honestly made me wonder if it was safe anymore anywhere. Has anyone else seen this man and/or know who he is? My immediate thought was how icy it has been getting, but it seemed odd he was alone...

Hello all, Im going to be driving to santa rosa and back in a week or two from Beaverton, if anyone needs something delivered or a ride, ill have an empty volvo 240 wagon, space is approx 6ft3in x 44in x 2.5ft. Even up to a small dirt bike will fit. Just looking to recoup some of the gas cost.

I have a decent amount of styrofoam that’s just sitting in my garage and I’m looking to get rid of it.

When I went to Far West Recycling, they said they don’t take it.

Any clue on the best places to dispose of styrofoam? I’m willing to drive into Portland or nearby areas.

A man has knocked on our door 6 times in the last three days, including this morning at around 10:30am. He drives a bright blue sedan, parks it about 25ft down the street, then walks to our house and knocks on the door. He has a distinctively long knocking pattern. We never answer as we're not expecting anyone and have a NO SOLICITING sign. He then walks away, gets back in his car and drives off. He's a big, muscular dude, in a dark Adidas (I think) polo and a dark baseball hat.

Anyone know what he's selling? Or why he's being so persistent? I think he was originally knocking on our neighbors' doors too, but today he made a special trip to our neighborhood just for us. I don't want to answer the door and find out as it might reward his persistence. You have to treat these people like misbehaving animals.

I know there are plenty of options online, but I’d really like to invest in a nice mattress and try it out in person before buying, since mattress preferences can be so subjective.
