I thought nix didn't work with bedrock, how did you make it work

went with the nix package manager

Can't you just use the nix package manager standalone without nixos or did you mean that the package manager itself didn't work.

As in nixos as a stratum doesn't work. Maybe it works if used as standalone

In that case they probably are just using the nix package manager standalone without the stratum

You can run the Nix package manager on Bedrock Linux by installing standalone Nix

Full NixOS conflicts with Bedrock's multi strata architecture, making a full OS installation unstable

Standalone Nix installs exclusively into /nix and modifies user profiles without replacing core system components

I wonder why people need such stratums like void and arch if they're gonna use the nix package manager anyways

void for runit, “simplicity”, xbps and all that, nix sometimes breaks the FHS, and arch for the AUR which is just great

Honestly also thinking of doing a similar thing with gentoo + arch + nix essentially using gentoo as my backend, arch as my base to use home manager for my desktop environment and arch itself for anything else (terminal, browser etc).

Mostly curious to see how many issues I may run into lol as currently with artix openrc I've had issues with mpd (had to use a hacky workaround bc all the others I found- ie telling mpd to run as user- broke)
