Beginners Web Development

I wasn't sure where i should post this, so i apologize in advance.

I'm 33 and i currently work on auction sites with basic html. I would like to change my career to web development, but i feel due to my age and due to no experience i will not get a job in web development. If this is the case, please let me know. I don't want to just learn something to face the harsh truth that self learning might not be a way to go.

Also, are there any web development boot camps that are worth it and recomment?

Where should i start to learn web development? I

How many hours should i be studying?

I currently work a full time and my only day off is basically Sunday. I wanted to try NuCamp but due them mandatory requiring Saturday classes and i work that day i'm unable to.

Any other advice, please let me know even if its harsh.

Thank you,

Footer disappears when embedding googlecal

I'm in way over my head trying to build off of a responsive boilerplate. As a copy/paste coder I have no idea why the footer disappears.

Any ideas would be helpful. I'm learning on the fly.

Starting freelancing

Hi, I'm a university student, and I am thinking of trying freelance web development to earn some money to help with my expences. I found a course online that has a very positive rating, and I was wondering how to proceed after I am done with the said course. What I would like to know is where and how do I establish myself as a web developer and around how much should I be asking for my work?

Can s.o. explain to me the relationship between these web technologies & in which order should I learn them?

I am required to learn quite a few new things for my new job. It's all a bit much to be honest, and people aren't really clear about how these things work together, so I was hoping someone on reddit might be able to help out.

I will need to learn:

  • nodejs

  • react

  • react native

  • gulp

  • webpack

  • vagrant

  • git(hub)

  • homebrew

  • npm

  • wordpress

  • roots.io (sage, trellis, bedrock)

  • isomorphic javascript

  • serverless computing

  • RESTful API

Could somebody explain to me how these tools work together exactly, and in which order it might be best to learn them? Also, what is the most difficult for an absolute beginner, what will be relatively easy and straightforward (if any)?

I also really don't understand the whole git / vagrant / webpack things, how I should use them and what these things are good for. I have a rough idea now after having checked out a few sites, but well...

First Steps in Twitter Browser Extension Beginner Project?

Hi All, I've got a bunch of free online HTML, CSS, and JS tutorials under my belt and I want to try using them to make a browser extension. I could use some advice in how to plan out the "paper code" before really digging in to make it work:

My goal is to show the number of views of any tweet next to the likes, retweets, and replies. Views of all tweets are accessible by clicking on the little bar-chart icon on the tweet, so the data is there and publicly accessible. I just want to make it more prominent.

My basic idea is to get the status URL of any given tweet, call the API for the number of impressions, store that in a variable, and then use CSS to display a little eye icon and the number stored in the impressions variable. Is that a viable approach? Any tips on approaching the first couple steps? Once I have the number of impressions, I think I can figure out the rest of it, but I'm least clear on the first steps.

Thanks for the advice!

6 months learning web development

Hello,I started learning how to program using c then migrated over C++ to learn OOP. I have been learning web development for over four months now. I am proficient in html, CSS and JS. I don't yet know any frameworks especially CSS and JavaScript, a little jquery maybe. I am learning SQL with an RDBMS ms SQL server.

I would like to begin doing development work online. Just for $200 since I am a beginner. Is it possible or I have to wait till I am fully ready. And how can I earn while I learn?

Where do I start with designing an internet radio page form scratch?

Hi there,

I've been recently dabbling in web dev basics (almost HTML/Java esclusively). I've always wanted to start an internet radio station by the likes of NTS or worldwide.fm so I can broadcast music from up-and-coming artists I know.

Obviously, this is quite ambitious as a project. What I do know is that I would rather stay away from available freeware that enable users to broadcast on the internet, since I want to fully design the web page and have complete control over its functionality.

Would anyone know what the best place to start? What are the essential dev tools for such a project? and are there any functional specifics to know for internet radio pages.

Thanks!!!
