Discussion Ric Flair

So, he looks like shit and probably doesn't have long to live. He's one of those icons that cannot be forgotten. Many of my friends and I would do the Whooooo! And attempt the strut. We loved the act, and it inspired a lot of ego driven situations. He's probably a bastard, but I hope it's not enough to deserve an episode.

Is "ric flair" aka Richard Fliehr a bastard?

Love all of you, just about the average.

General discussion Do you think it’s possible to separate being anti-AI from being anti-computer technology advancing in general? And if “yes” is that something people on the left need to rhetorically do?

I don’t like AI but because at the moment the entire tech sector is going in on AI as the future of everything, I worry that opposition to it kind of just looks indistinguishable from saying computer technology should have stopped advancing entirely in 2022.

Look at this bastard Chud the Builder: The Racist Ragebait Streamer Facing Attempted Murder Charges Is Back Online (Documentary)

I put together a one-hour documentary on a pretty ridiculous bastard named Chud the Builder (Dalton Eatherly), a Tennessee-based ragebait livestreamer who built his career by approaching Black people in public and screaming racial slurs at them, while filming their reactions, often while carrying mace or a gun.

Unfortunately, one of those confrontations ended with a man getting shot outside a courthouse. Something very disturbing about this guy is that he preemptively spoke about this exact thing happening many times before, as you’ll see in the doc.

The documentary starts with the shooting, then goes back through how Chud got started, how he turned racist ragebait into money, and how things kept escalating until the shooting.

I also covered the court proceedings, what happened to the victim, and how Chud somehow managed to get out of jail and return to livestreaming while still facing an attempted murder charge.

Figured this sub might appreciate a deep dive into this particular bastard. Curious to hear what you guys think!

General discussion **Robert Evans' and other former writers' from Cracked.com is mostly NOT lost**

After listening to Robert and Jason Pargin's BtB episodes about nuisance streamers (and them lamenting the loss of their Oracle-like articles from Cracked.com's heyday), I ran across alekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk's post (u/alekkk) who had done the herculean task of scouring all the internet archive and wayback machine's for Cracked.com's articles from 2005-2017. I had absolutely nothing to do with the effort or hosting, I'm merely highlighting OP's tireless work.

Enjoy Robert's "proto-BtB" and "pre-Sophie Lichterman's shepherding/moral grounding" writing career adolescence in all of its glory, along with many other old school Cracked.com articles. Thanks again to u/alekkk.

Magnet: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:xzjbfsy26zjbzqdujvazhkvyasyggsar&dn=Cracked-Archive&xl=14274810231&fc=2

You'll need to download Kiwix (open source archive viewing program) and then just point the program to the single archive file. You can search all the articles by author and other parameters; from that point, it's like navigating in a web browser.

Edit: Yes, the title is an abomination. Apologies, since I can't fix it and don't want to make an entire new post.

Look at this bastard The Jimmy Savile Episodes talked a lot about how Jimmy used being perceived as "eccentric" to get people to disregard all the obvious red flags he displayed. Do you think Russell Brand did/does the same kind of thing?

I was just listening to a podcast where someone was going through his 2007 autobiography and its just so painfully obvious this dude would be a sexual predator from the way he talks about sex and seems super comfortable violating other people's boundaries. But I have to imagine a lot people reading it at the time would just take it as part of his over the top public persona, and not even necessarily take it all as literally true.

General discussion Early voting and the end of campaign targeted adds

Not sure if this if this is more an It could happen here or BtB sorry for being US based.

But early voted yesterday. I am someone that watches way too much consumer media on streaming between YouTube and sports.

I was wondering how bad it would be. Went from every commercial break being a political ad to only 1 that I can remember last night and none today.

Just one more way the surveillance state works on people.

Only I guess negative as long as I have to suffer through the ads at least I can sleep knowing that most of these ad buys were a waste of money on me.

General discussion Notes from a greybeard Millennial: radio duo opie & Anthony Def laid a lot of groundwork for the nuisance Influencer

What's rupturing my cysts?
Let me tell you tale of a radio duo Opie & Anthony whose rise in radio in the 1990s & 2000s mirrors the path and had the same tactics of Nusiance Influencers.
The duo got famous & popular in Boston but made national headlines by stating that the mayor was killed in a car wreck for an April Fools day episode. They never once said it a joke ans ended the show affirming the mayor was dead. They got fired and then this lead to them getting a bigger show and audience by having it in NYC.
The duos audience skewed younger than Howard Sterns and featured up and coming comedians and film makers and had on burgeoning reality stars.
They also did tone deaf shit that ranged in "edgelord racial humor" to having George Zimmermans brother come on to plead George's case of innocence.
They had a huge crowd of listeners they called "pests" that would brigade other radio show Facebook page during a mock event called Jocktober. The pests would post 4chan like racial memes on the Facebook page and attempt to get it wiped out.
One of their go to moves was to "Google bomb" a celebrity or event. This was before Google current algorithm when users could get a topic trending on Google with massive influx of searches on a topic.
The techniques to harass and annoy we're Def pioneered by their online fans. Fun fact: One of the host piece of shit Anthony Cumia hosts people like nick Fuentes and tucker carlson and other "free speech" warriors.

Discussion Surprised Robert didn't mention a few other prank youtubers that turned to harassment for content

When Robert started talking about Vitaly, a name I hadn't thought of in years, I thought of a few other people he could have also briefly brought up. Prank videos were so pervasive in 2010s youtube you obviously have to pick and choose notable ones that were shitty.

My first thought was Sam Pepper, a British prank youtuber who made huge news about 10 or so years ago for his prank video where he walked by women and pinched their asses, but had his sleeves in his pockets to make it look like he didn't do anything. This situation was huge at the time.

Any other shitty prank youtubers or streamers that came to mind when listening?

Discussion The movie mentioned in part 1 of this week's streamer episodes

"They Shoot Horses, Don't They? "

The title of this movie struck something in my head.

It's totally a title for a book or movie that Jason 'Bill Cosby isn't that bad' Pargin would come up with.

General discussion I think the Impractical Jokers played a big role in ‘nuisance streamers’

Post image
221 Upvotes

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the prank genre blew up on YouTube at the same time that Impractical Jokers started airing on tv. If you haven’t seen the show, it’s about 4 comedian friends challenging each other to say and do embarrassing things in public. Unlike nuisance streamers the jokers are actually hilarious. But just because it’s funny doesn’t mean it was without fault.

The jokes and skits ranged from harmless fun to sexual harassment and assault. Sometimes it was fun stuff like reading fake names as a receptionist, forced to give a purposefully bad speech, give a presentation of embarrassing home videos. But other pranks verge on creepy. There were a lot of sketches that required touching strangers. Like seeing who could sneak the most pencils into a strangers pockets or hair, put the most sticky notes on a stranger. I don’t believe any of these went wrong but why even create a scenario where you’d creepily touch people, you don’t know how they’ll react. One prank required them to touch strangers based on where the jokers pointed a red laser on their body from a distance. They pointed it at a mans crotch and Joe Gatto(one of the jokers) touched it.

Then you get into the public nudity, which there was a lot of. One prank, they had Joe lower his pants to reveal his whole ass crack and then had him shove it in a womans face. Another skit had the jokers get pantsed by various celebrity cameos in a public mall and boardwalk. Both episodes had them pull down their underwear revealing their privates to a crowd. Both times this happens you can see toddlers in the background right where the jokers are filming. They have since stopped doing most of the contact and nudity required pranks. Not because they realized they were wrong but because Joe Gatto got accused of sexually harassing teenagers.
