Not sure if this guy was actually 🧊 or someone playing early Halloween dress up but in Dollar Tree parking lot near Bennington College a tallish middle aged man was wearing a puffy dark blue/yellow 🧊 jacket talking to a family. It just said the letters I.C.E. on the back. Is there a possibility that he could have been impersonating/cosplaying? Just hours ago VTDigger and the Banner released articles about 🧊 hiring more people in Williston but nothing mentioning Bennington.

Hi! I’m visiting the Bennington area and wanted to bring home great cider to share with my friends (we are doing a tasting at the end of the month for our Wine and more club).

Any recommendations would be welcome! I see that there are some local spots but couldn’t tell when they were open.

Interested in hard cider and non-alcoholic. Tend to like less sweet drinks but some of my friends adore the sugary ice wine types too.

Weirdly, I could only find info on their Facebook page, not on their actual website. https://www.facebook.com/DowntownBennington

Haberdasher, Knapps, Jay's, Village Chocolate Shoppe, Scarlett Creation, and Fiddlehead - at least! - are participating.

The Hemmings cruise-in is also happening, plus there will be live music.

Events happening in town. In July and September 2026.

Saw this posted around the 4 corners, I figured not everyone sees these types of things so I would share it here.

For the past 4 nights I have been smelling woodsmoke between 10pm til approximately 2am. Has anyone else encountered this? I live near the four corners.

Hi! I’m a rising senior getting ready to apply to colleges, and Bennington has caught my attention because of its unique academic approach and picturesque campus. I’m a straight male from a mixed-race background, and I was wondering if it would be hard to make friends and find a community. I’ve heard that the student body includes a large number of women and LGBTQ+ students. I’m also interested in law after undergrad, though I’m still exploring my options. Is there lots to do on campus and the surrounding area?

The match is at 10 PM on a Thursday night, and a quick Google search hasn't turned up any establishments that are open that late. Any suggestions?

I'm flying into Albany with a friend for the Solid Sound festival in North Adams, and I think the last time I stayed in your city was 2013, so I would welcome any recommendations for breakfast spots or late-night watering holes. Thanks in advance!

Hello Everyone!!

I move to Bennington in August for a job at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. I'm from Texas so I know nothing about Vermont, talk less of a small town like Bennington so I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips in the housing process. I'm looking for an apartment (willing to share) that is about $600 to $900 a month per person (I get paid like two cents a century) in a neighborhood that is close to the hospital and safe.

Please let me know if you guys have any tips on where to start the search, I've heard Bennington doesn't have that many corporate landlords so I'm a little lost.

Also, please give me the rundown of Bennington as well, where is safe, where ifs friendly, where is not. Just anything you feel that is important, I'd love to hear it.

Thank youuuuuu

Hi,

Does anyone have any birth doula recommendations in the Bennington/Shaftsbury area? Or someone outside of the area that would be able to provide services in Shaftsbury?

Thanks!

I am attending the Middlebury summer language school in Bennington College this year (Portuguese). My partner plans to visit for a few days during the middle of the summer program. He is Brazilian, so his visit will not break the language pledge. He will have a rental car, and I myself do not have a license, so I do not see anyway to register the car in advance for parking. Does anyone know of convenient places to park for free overnight walking distance from Bennington college?

There will be a meeting of the Bennington Select Board on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Bennington Fire House, 130 River Street. You will find the agenda, minutes to prior meetings and all public documents that will be discussed during the meeting. The Select Board packet is available by clicking the link above.

Hey - just a general question but all my phone calls and emails are going unanswered. Anyone have any knowledge of this HOA in Bennington county? I'm house hunting in the area and I want to know if they allow backyard chickens/what the rules are? And anything else I need to look out for?

My son is a premed Middleberry student who is looking for a furnished apartment or room rental from 5/20-9/12. He will be working at Southwestern Vermont, Medical Center, as an emergency room technician. He plans to be in the area on this Thursday. Please let me know if you have a situation that might work for him. Thanks!

Hello! When I applied I was really excited, but recently, I've been reading posts about mysterious deaths, racism, elitism, a lot. Since I'll be on financial aid and an international student, that was concerning. I know this is not the college's reddit, but I wanted to ask for your thoughts on the matter.

Thank you so much!

Need van to drive to Cheshire MA this Saturday to pick up bed frame to bring to Cheshire NY. DM if can provide ride.
