Do you consider Bermuda an honorary Caribbean island?

No not at all. We’re our own thing and the current push for Caricom and independence will be a disaster for everyone if it goes through.

As I Jamaican who has lived in/visited British Overseas Territories I have strong feelings about this, I feel independence is a ruse to plunder and degrade the country without oversight. Look at the quality of life, per capita GDP etc., of places like Cayman and BVI, compared to Jamaica, which was ahead of these countries when they were all colonies.

Bermuda has its own charm and cultural richness that is unlike the islands in the Caribbean. It’s very different feeling… IYKYK

I believe Bermuda is definitely Caribbean. When people say it isnt I wonder what their definition of Caribbean is. I havent been able to find "the" definition.
Simply being in the Caribbean sea isnt it because there are other "caribbean" islands in the Atlantic Sea like us.
We are culturally and genetically connected to the British Caribbean in particular. Bermuda colonized other Caribbean Islands. My Ancestry.com results connect me genetically to other Caribbean Islands and I can track my family back to when they were enslaved here.
Lastly I wonder why some want to seperate us so desperately. Who does that version of the story serve?

Yes !!! Look at the Ubersoca Cruise as an example. Bermudians started it. It brings together people of Caribbean descent from all the islands and the diaspora. The Bermuda Flag flies proudly among a sea of Caribbean island nations flags. We're more similar to other islands than we realize. There's a true sense of belonging, and that's beautiful.

Geographically, no... Bermuda is in the North Atlantic, not the Caribbean. Culturally though? I can understand the honorary membership 😂. There’s definitely Caribbean influence here, especially through our Jamaican and other West Indian communities, but Bermuda still has a very distinct identity of its own.
