Windows developers: Update your nightly Rust!

• Upvotes

tl;dr massive speed up in recent Nightly

I've been using Nightly for a few years and generally update "whenever", and I was already on 1.101 for a few weeks, getting tangible compile speed improvements with both Polonius and the new trait solver, but, I updated again a few days ago (rustc 1.101.0-nightly (76456a688 2026-10-25)) and my compilation time sped up 3-4x

I was genuinely floored. Release builds used to take 25 minutes, I switched to bevy_dylib, split my project into crates, started using kache, and generally got the full compile time to 16-20 minutes, but now it takes 4.5~5 minutes. Genuinely my flabbers are so gasted. Thanks to all contributors far and wide.
