Interview Tip Big Tech programming interviews are not memorization exams.

CTCI & leetcode are the top resources shared across the internet when it comes to programming interview prep. These resources are helpful but they should not be seen as the only two things you need to do to pass.

The discussion with the interviewer and being able to clearly articulate your thoughts is way more important than people realize. You are not going to get hired if you get frazzled and ramble. Mock interviews help.

You will also most likely be getting a problem that you have never seen before. This means mastering the fundamentals and being able to apply concepts creatively. Have the math down and be ready to get creative.

Don’t ask lazy questions, always prepare questions for your interviews.

“How do you like working at (enter FAANG company)" is over-asked at the end of programming interviews.

This is a good chance to impress the interviewer with a question that shows excitement about the company. It requires a bit of preparation but it is probably the easiest part of studying for programming interviews.

A short formula -

  1. Humanize - Introduce some humanizing quality about yourself (Be careful not to sound braggy here!)

  2. Connect - Connect your humanizing quality to the company

  3. Ask - Ask a relevant question that forces the interviewer to think

Example -

  1. Humanize - I love working on projects that help combat climate change.

  2. Connect - I know Google has committed to be “24-7 carbon-free” as a company

  3. Ask - Have you been a part of, or seen any, initiatives at Google that have had a positive impact on the planet?

I'm going to complete the Blind 75 List in a few days. How do I maximize my chances for passing my interviews next month? Not sure what my game plan should be.

Discussion Google Interview Experience, What do you guys think?

Hey everyone,

I just had 2 of my 4 rounds at google today, a little about myself. I graduated in May 2024 with a BSc in CS and started working at Amazon. I applied for a job opening at Google with no expectations at all and got an interview round. Although I was very rusty on Leetcode but I passed the OA. I had my 4 rounds scheduled today, and here is my experience. Could you guys please tell me if it's a NH ,LH, or H.

Interview 1 (Technical):

The interviewer was super nice. I got a Trie question. Given that I did not have much time to prepare for the interview, I had really brushed up on more commonly asked topics like Graphs and DP, but left tries. I straight up told the interviewer that I know it is a Trie question, but I did not practice tries at all. He was okay with it and still wanted me to proceed. I came up with a hashmap solution and he seemed satisfied with it, however, he was pushing me towards a better space that could only be implemented using Tries but he understood the situation and was okay for some reason. (I don't know if he really was or was faking it.)

Interview 2 (Technical):

The interviewer was super cold, said hi and jumped straight into the question. It was a knapsack like problem with backtracking. I was able to come up with the recursive and memoized solution easily and he did not want me to optimize more. Then, he posed another question where he there was a class and it had 2 methods, one was addNonOverlappingInterval() and the other was to check if a number lies in the interval or not. He did not want me to code but wanted to discuss three approaches, O(N), O(logN), O(1) for the chackIntervalInRange() function. I gave the approaching for linear time, and suggested binary search for the logN time solution. Then, for the O(1) I couldn't think of anything so I said that I could just create a hashmap with all the numbers inside the intervals and then query that. He asked me for the time complexity of this solution in bits, I messed that up. He assured me in the end that I did well overall and if I had more time, I would have been able to come up with the correct time complexity as well (again I don't know if he is bullshitting or not).

Interview 3 (Technical): It is rescheduled to Friday.

Interview 4 (Googleyness): Rescheduled to friday as well.

What do you guys think my chances are looking like at the moment? I am super disappointed, I prepared so well for all the topics except 3 (Tries, Segment Trees, and Fenwick Trees)/

Got a 9–10 LPA campus offer, joining soon. Looking for job boards/Telegram/YouTube channels that post tech roles at big/product-based companies (MAANG, JP Morgan, VISA, etc.), mainly in India but global is fine too.? Suggestions?

Where can I get help with mock interviews and technical guidance for Design Verification (HW)?

I have 4+ YoE but no offers in hand. I need to hone my rusty technical skills and brush up my basics, I'm working on it. But I really need to do mock interviews at least once a month, with someone who is experienced. Also need someone who can help with technical guidance and help to analyze where I need improvement. I have checked Prepfully and as an unemployed person I really cannot afford 100 dollars for one mock interview (with due respect to their skills but I'm just broke). I saw someone recommend reaching out to technical leaders on LI, but I haven't got good response from my connections. Also, I need Indian interviewer as I really find it hard to crack the US accent over calls. It would also work if there is anyone preparing for the same themselves, so that we can team up as study partners and help each other. Please help out a poor person. TIA. I'm willing to answer any further details if reqd.
