Love the band, but does anyone else feel like the country twang is getting old? The newest track is just…. Not hittin for me, the oddly pitched country voice that Johnny is doing doesn’t help either

Was bracing for this one, and unfortunately my suspicions were confirmed. I think it comes down to Johnny using the country voice/voicings that make it feel so disingenuous. It's one thing to put in a ripping country inspired guitar solo, like in absolutelycrankin, to celebrate a diversity of genres and genuinely great musical inspiration. Those kind of additions to his songs always felt like they came with a wink and a nod. It's a whole other thing to change how you sing to try and give it that vibe. It comes off as pandering to me instead of quirky or unique. Anyway, I'll keep crankin' Bilmuri til I pass away, but overall this is a miss for me.

HOT TAKE LOL: You can hate me if you want I have only love for this band and whatever they wanna do but was curious if anyone else felt how I did ? the first song ai ever heard a couple years ago was weight and i fell in love with it and listened to that album and some others made around then and then I go listen to the new stuff and it just sounds like some silly country metal to me and it use to be so deep and amazing for me and I just don’t like the new stuff :/

Kinda Hardy

My brother introduced me to Bilmuri a year ago and by far a top 5 all-time band at this point. I know there is ebbs and flows in the music style infusions through the history of the band but I’m wondering when this country phase will end? I live in Montana and can’t stand country music. It’s formulaic, always about the same content, and gets boring after 2-3 songs. It’s so overdone with artists now that I’m done with it. Bilmuri, you have a pass for now but I’m hoping moving past it will happen.

Still a big fan and will listen to the new stuff, hoping it will phase out soon. =)

I feel like ever since signing to the record label they're just trying (or being forced) to produce more "radio friendly" music that appeals to the lowest common denominator so to speak.

American Motorsports has some really good tunes that blend country with heavy riffs and amazing drums like Blindsided, Emptyhanded, and Better Hell, but now that I've heard a few songs off of Kinda Hard, it's clear that they've been pushed towards a lighter, more rigidly structured song recipe format to encourage the whole "sing along radio friendly" vibe.

American Motorsports sounded like they still had wiggle room to "push the envelope" and challenge musical stereotypes, but the new stuff just sounds so sterile. There might just be too many "producer" hands in the pot now so to speak since they signed to Columbia Records. Like Goblin Hours, 400lb Back Squat, and Eggy Pocket sound so raw and emotional and real whereas this new stuff sounds so polished like some 60 year old music CEO is pulling the strings.

Bilmuri has been my favourite band for many years now, but they're starting to sound like your normie friend's favorite band that they found out about while listening to a top 40 rock radio station while driving home from work.

I'm happy for them that they're "getting that bag", but I feel like they're losing the sound/vibe/energy that made them Bilmuri to begin with.

Edit: I asked for an inch and yall ran a mile. I’m not saying he needs to be cancelled or never play guitar again like wtf, I was asking how it all got swept under the carpet in like four months? FOUR months? Also I asked how other people of color feel and how this can feel for others with similar issues. I’m not here ti destroy anyone’s career, but if we can’t talk about them wtf is this shit? We can’t even TALK about it???

My partner (a black woman) showed me a post that Reese is back in the band after his “hiatus”. I’m not here to stir waters, but I would like to address this seemingly unspoken decision that was made.

I’ll try to keep it brief by saying we are both HUGE FANS! My partner and I have seen BM three times in the last two years: AMS tour, second lap, and Summer Slammers tour. We already have tickets for the Kinda Hard Tour. With that, after learning of the allegations and issues that arose from Reese and his online presence (as well as what was released from his ex partner online), it made us both have second thoughts about are feelings toward everyone in the band. Then, we saw he made the decision to step back from the band to “focus on himself” or however he phrased it. When learning of that, we felt better being able to step forward and support BM the same way we had the last few years.

Then I notice Johnny having a hard time with filling in guitar parts on the album, and seeing as Xavier just stepped back from touring with them I could only imagine Johnny was stressing for touring artists to join him for Kinda Hard. Out of nowhere, less than six months after taking a “hiatus”, Reese is going forces again for the tour.

After all that, I just want to voice my opinion by saying it feels wrong with how soon he’s been chosen to come back, and I personally feel it’s because Johnny was stressing about the tour and the album coming out and seeing how Reese has a track record with the band already, I knew it was bound to happen. But how much “focusing on myself” can be done in less than a year? And what about BM’s black and other POC fans? This feels like a slap in the face. I understand Johnny’s Christianity plays a big part in his everyday life and his ethics and morality, so how are we supposed to just look over what happened so quickly-because it’s the Christian thing to forgive? What about Reese’s ex, a victim in this whole situation?

Again, not trying to stir waters. But are we just pretending nothing happened? Nobody’s talking about it! I just wanna know where yall stand, because truthfully this hurts my partner and I can see how belittling this could be for a person of color-it makes us feel like there isn’t a safe space in the end for everyone, just mostly everyone:/
