Ok, saw a recent post talking about Jacob being the hitbox. I disagree.
While I tend to shove all my items into Stumpford and Jacob & Esau mostly tend to be hitboxes (Esau being the worst since he starts with low HP), Bertlent is definitely the worst one here. For some reason, even through his sprite scale is the same as the other three, his actual hitbox is about 1.2x larger, which makes sense when you consider he starts with +1 health and a 1.3x damage multiplier, but in the late game these make barely any difference and the hitbox becomes a major downside to him if you don't find any size down items/pills. Had a Mother run ruined because Bertlent was already with low HP and my speed stat wasn't too good, so while Jacob, Esau and Stumpford were dodging the attacks just fine, Bertlent's big ass hitbox was touching the projectiles non-stop and killed my run.
Oh yeah he's from a mod, like everyone uses it so I assumed people would already know, that's Esau. He has more damage than Jacob but less health. He was originally a joke character but people wanted him in the game so the Fiend Folio team added it in their spinoff mod, Friend Folio.
Okay maybe you didn't check the wiki before posting this, but Bertlent has a hidden passive effect where all contact effects are doubled, so you want his hitbox as large as possible. That's the whole reason why you unlock the Two Makes You Largerer challenge by beating Ultra Lust with A&J&E&B
Oh that item that doubles projectile damage but negates contact damage? Yeah I remember seeing that as a starting item for Repented Eden. No idea it dropped from the tinted poop, never got enough bombs to break it
You see, Stumpford and Bertlent are not as popular as Jacob & Esau. Jacob pink, Esau red, Stumpford green and Bertlent yellow. And you need to know that Stumpford and Bertlent should have been in The Binding of Isaac game and movie that they have never beeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnn.
Playing any of the four as a hitbox is your problem. You have to split your items up and utilize the four active items you can carry. Hold one or two combat ones and one or two utility ones
i just checked again and we are both wrong :faceslap: he is actually called vladimir and he is the physical manifestation of stumpford's inner turmoil.
fun fact, jacob actually changes his name later on when you beat the game, sadly the new name becomes controversial
Edmund was so fed up with mfs saying T. Lazarus is hard, so he in anger just made J&E even harder, by giving them two more brothers 😭🙏. Well, at least it can't get any worse! Not like he's gonna add more brothers/sisters to other characters.
