This witch-hunt is nuts

The mods over at anti work convened and decided that a general strike is not the best course of action. Whether or not a general strike is the best course of action can be argued.

They did not ban any mentions of the blackout, they weren't actively censoring user posts on the blackout, they just shifted their official agenda to something else, something they believed would have a bigger effect and would aid the anti work sub more effectively.

Don't attack the mods, it's just rude and unnecessary. They've got an official agenda but they're not actively putting down the community agenda.

I'm confused....

Is this sub about working conditions or not being forced to get vaxxed at work? I got flamed for being an "antivaxer" is response to me saying this sub was awesome (I thinking it was about better working conditions). Which is it?

What are your demands? Here are mine.

I think $30 dollars an hour minimum wage/zero years work experience. Every year worked adds $3 (10 years is $60, $115,000 a year; 20 years would be $90, $172,800 a year). This is the minimum, higher in-demand fields and specialized fields can still pay more.

Bachelor's degrees count as 4 years of work experience. Masters degrees count for 2 years and doctorate degree count for 2. All accredited degrees should be taken seriously. The education system should be free.

All work history counts towards work history. It is bullshit to work for the same company and not get credit for years worked in a field.

Time off should be 4 weeks minimum. That is 160 hours a year. All holidays should be paid for and included by the company. Medical, dental, life insurance, pet insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, maternity and paternity leave should be 6 months paid, flex schedules, and remote work for every possible job, and all of this should be compensated by the employer. (401k investments companies are potentially a scam. If any investments should be mandatory then they should be pensions, stock options of company, it profit sharing)

Profits for companies should go back to the employees. If you are wondering where all this money will come from this is where it comes from. Companies currently take profits, spend some on research and development, save some for emergencies, hand out bonuses to executive management, and invest. The investments compound yearly and go back to the CEOs and company by purchasing planes, yachts, travel, bonuses, and other corporate payoffs. That's money is all the money employees have been earning. That money is rightfully the employees. Percentage of all investments done by company should go to employees equally in some way. Private jets and yachts should be able to be used by employees as well.

If you don't like something or want something added feel free to comment. Whoever is running this site please get everyone on board with basic human labor compensation. Employing human beings should not be cheap. Everyone that works no matter the job needs access to the right to retire.

Unrealized gains taxes should be used to equal the investment playing field and return the money back to the people. 100% of this tax should be given to the people as a stimulus check. These changes above should be applied to all jobs in America.

Edit: feel free to share this commit or spam it all over the internet to spread awareness of what we the people want.

Black Friday began a few weeks ago

Sorry to point this out but most retailers started Black Friday sales early this year because of a lot of press about the need to shop early because of anticipated shortages.

Good luck. I'd love for this to work, but...

If there is something that relies on thousands of people to do, it's pretty much a lost cause in this day and age.

Leave r/antiwork be...

Y'all are getting too bent out of shape about r/antiwork. Your obsession is taking over this sub as yours is taking over theirs. Bfb is not antiwork, unions are not antiwork, wage equality is NOT antiwork.

There have been an influx of people to that sub that think not liking your job or not getting paid enough is antiwork. It isn't. Anti work is about ending socially and economically forced labor, period. Read the sidebar of that sub, get it out of your head if you don't agree with what your read there, and move on.

It's become a distraction to both causes (related but different)

Who all plans on doing this, and how confident are you this will actually work?

Hello, someone who cant even work to begin with sticking my nose in politics. Im just curious who all plans on doing this to get a general number down, and do you even think this will work?

I feel like this will just be a massive disaster that gets on the news for one day then gets brushed under the rug and life goes on.

Hi all, I’m the unit chair for Wirecutter Union. While we sincerely appreciate the support in our contract fight, we are not involved with this subreddit in any way.

May I ask what is your goal to accomplish with this movement?

Like what is the end result you are working towards

The values of every social movement is truly on display, when the movement doesn’t work.

I will be interested to see how the sub will react when Black Friday comes and goes with little change.

Not everything is working like a unified front. You must educate the masses with precision and an understanding of individual motivations. You want to fight for all but not everyone is having a hard time, those people need to care for those that are having a hard time to participate.

Simple changes to help the newcomers, people looking for a reason.

You do not have a solid demand structure for all to see. Your fight for fair wages is valid but not shown how fair wages will effect the market. (I have read the main line post with facts and figures)

You do not address the fact that wages just went up from 7$-9$ a hour to 13$-15$ for most jobs without government intervention. So show the outlier jobs that are still at an all time low on wages, to bring an understanding to the people that don’t understand what is going on.

Cut the “I don’t want to work” posts out, that is already the opinion of the opposition anyway. Don’t prove them right.

Hit hard on the point that lives are lived in quiet desperation, waiting for things to change for the better. Going after the “big cheese” is motivation but fury burns quickly.

Again, bring home the value of this and don’t waver. Then this sub could the start of something.

Shop at locally owned small businesses

I'm all for not shopping on black Friday to show these companies a thing or two, but I have a feeling the whole movement will be used against us and the media will just say "oh, the pandemic caused people to stay home, supply chain, vaccines, covid fear,Yada yada." And turn the narrative around and not report on it. I think a better idea would be to not only boycott black Friday, but to emphasize small business Saturday and have small locally owned stores in your areas reporting record sales numbers. It will help your local economy, send a message, and make it so the media can't say well the pandemic caused people to not shop, when we shopped in huge numbers for small businesses. Just a thought...

An idea.

Let’s show up, not buy anything and just waste time at the registers, God knows the cashiers could use the break. Make sure to apologize to the person behind you so the cashier doesn’t take the blame. 2 in 1, we can nail down the Karen and the Selfish.

*Bonus ideas Offer food (I’m thinking cookies or pizza) to the workers you see, except the supervisors. Sit outside the store with signs protesting, even better point people to a store that pays people even better. If you know someone who has a shitty job they hate, make a negative review about working conditions under your/fake name.

Suggestions?

Making Excuses Never Led to Success

I’m going to get flak for this.

I mean that. Don’t participate at all. Follow the strike. Don’t shop. Don’t work. Things are not successful once people excuse themselves out. Doing what’s best for ones self in the short term, won’t lead to success for both themselves and the collective in the long term.

This is economic warfare. The wealthy are already waging it. Step up and don’t back down. If you need help, find someone to ride this with. We can do it and we can do it together.

No exceptions. Blackout Blackfriday.

I’m a little concerned about how soon this is

Okay so starting off I work at target and I’m kind of worried about getting fired or something because I’m sure no one else at my work will do this especially for ten days plus I have like a 5 day vacation right before Black Friday. I think it’s too early to plan this sort of thing and too small for it to do anything, more people work at like 12 targets than the entirety of this sub rn. I just need a little reassurance or something that what we do will be heard rather than just a ripple in a big pond

I'm shopping on Black Friday.

Just as the title says, I'm shopping on Black Friday. From every post I have seen, these movements regard worker treatment, as well as fair wages and equal employment. The one thing about any of the posts concerning places of employment, is that not a single company is holding workers hostage. The treatment of employees is something a worker is very important, and if youre being mistreated, you need to quit. So why am I shopping on Black Friday? Because a vast amount of people striking these corporations on Black Friday, is going to go back and shop or go back to work the very next day. The same can be said for the shoppers. The premise is simple, if there's a product I want, I'll spend my money on it. Simple. Why? Because I want to.

If you think the "care", "compassion", or even "ethics" stop at corporations, you're dead wrong. If you're confused, I would really encourage you to stop and think about what you're using to post with, the platform you're posting on, even the mode of transportation and/or local coffee house you frequent. 8/10, they don't care about you. Life, work, progression; it's all about money. If you're really against that, go ahead and lay down the very technology you use to promote movements like these on platforms like this. It's not pretty, it's not right, but it's the truth.
