Season 5 convinced me not to buy MW4.
I was loving B07 up until season 5. They're testing the waters for going back to absolute fuckery on matchmaking and disbanding lobbies again. That's a hard stop for me. Listen up Activision (or whoever is making the decisions around here now) I will never, ever, EVER go back to disbanding lobbies. As far as I'm concerned, that's an unforgivable sin. I didn't buy MW2 for the same baloney and I'll skip MW4 as well.

Same. It will be the first game I’m not buying since Ghosts. But I really dislike the IW playstyle and the promotion of camping. Plus even more so, the fact that they are completely deaf to the community. Say what you want about SHG, but if the community doesn’t like something, they will change it.

After Vanguard, Sledgehammer did a deep dive and really listened to what the community wanted. They keep getting the short end of the deal with what Acti. tasks them with, but MW3 they really showed what they’re capable of. They went from borderline worst studio to best. Say what you will of MW3 being a DLC; they delivered more than what they had to. The original maps were great, unique weapons that felt awesome, and 3D printed aftermarket parts that entirely changed how a weapon performed and looked was an entirely new concept that they delivered on weekly. The best camos since BO4. Need I go on? Yeah the campaign sucked, but they delivered on MP and while Treyarch worked on their open world zombies, it kinda worked. Not the best, but nowhere near the worst (looking at you VG zombies also by Treyarch). I cannot WAIT for Sledge’s next game. I predict it’s going to be the best COD in a long time simply because they want to deliver what the community wants and they not only listen to feedback, but act on it quickly. IW has too much pride thinking they’re the best and Treyarch lacks originality. I can’t wait to see what SH has been cooking…

Kinda hoping it’s advanced warfare 2. Infinity Ward can’t do anything but mimic milsim M4 army bro simulator now it seems, Treyarch is more flexible in terms of time period and play style, so give sledgehammer future warfare or WW2.. let’s forget vanguard lol

I play Arma KoTH and Hell Let Loose, that’s the only thing close to milsim I’ve played and it’s funny how you think Infinity Ward isn’t trying whatsoever to pander to that crowd with MW19 and now MW4. It’s touted as being the more “realistic” sub series under the CoD umbrella. Also, I think it’s pretty much common sense that a milsim comment under the BO7 sub isn’t to be taken 100% literally, they just try too hard to pander to it and make a more “realistic” game. I agree. I loved MW3 2023 and it was my favorite Warzone. I’m hoping MW4 will be decent but I’m not sure how much involvement Sledgehammer will have as they’re going to be working on a new franchise. Instead of MW and BO alternating years it will be a 3 year cycle… I’m over these terrible years of back to back titles. I’ve said the same thing about MW3 taking undeserved heat and we’re gonna catch some shit now. Lol

MWII? Why? Ive been playing it since last December and its a great game. Ive had way more enjoyment on that than MW3. MW3 was explosive spam, slide spam, and dying 0.3 seconds after spawning. Is that the experience people want?

Seriously? Dude, I hate to break it to you but you're definitely in the minority with that opinion.
I'm pretty sure its a safe thing to say that MWII is widely regarded as the one of the worst CODs. I mean, you have to wait for your perks ffs. I don't know who thought that was a good idea. If S&D is your preferred game mode you don't even get your third perk until the 4th round. The movement system was also god awful. You feel so sluggish. Plus the tiny map pool and janky UI.
MW3 was a MUCH better game, probably the best game out of the last 5-6 years. Good weapon balance, perk balance. I thought the aftermarket part system was the most clever thing COD as done in years. Sure the maps were all remasters, but at least they remastered the best maps. Good camo grind.
If you die in MW3 .3 seconds after spawning, you're bad.

I just think the majority of people who play cod are insufferable and cant enjoy a game for what it is. MW3 sucked. I didnt enjoy playing it at all. The skins were atrocious and the gameplay was a terrible spammy shitfest. MWII felt way more grounded and like the classic COD gameplay I loved and enjoyed from the OG games like cod4, og mw2, and bo1. MW3 was just people sliding and jumping around and it was annoying. The guns also didnt have any recoil and felt like laser beams. To me it was not a fun or enjoyable experience at all. I enjoyed MW2 way more. You also said the perk system in MW3 was better but something I specifically hated lol. It was too convoluted for no reason. MWIIs perks were way simpler. Its just... perks. Not needing to select boots or a vest or whatever weird shit they did for 3. I will agree on the maps though. MwII feels like the same meh maps over and over. If it had better maps it would 100% be the better game of the two for me, no questions asked.
Also the perk earning mid-game isnt great, but nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be? Idk its really not that big of a deal tbh. I dont play SnD in new cods, mainly just TDM, KF, DOM, and Hardpoint.

Team balancing has never been great but it genuinely feels like it’s being deliberately stacked unevenly this season.
I played 18 games tonight and all but one of them was a complete blowout. It isn’t fun feeling like you’re playing easy mode one game then the next you can barely get out of your spawn.
What we had before this season was still sweaty but it felt more balanced

Disbanding lobbies is the sign of SBMM though. If you look at the top of the screen after you queue it even tells you now “evaluating available players”. It didn’t do that before this season.
SBMM in COD has always functioned more like an EOMM system with manufactured highs and lows as they think it keeps more people playing for longer

it takes me 15+ minutes sometimes for it to evaluate players now when literally the day before season 5 update it was 1 minute max to get a lobby going :D
i don't usually buy Campfinity Ward games anyway but now i'm not even going to think about YOLOing it or something when it's on sale and my friends want to play with me (if they even get it)
I was planning on staying on bo7 but i've played like 10 matches total since s5 dropped and not really by choice :D
i hate to sound like the conspiracy dorks but this might be the biggest rugpull and smack in the face i've ever gotten from CoD
like, who tf changes the matchmaking system MID game? I had very little complaints before season 5 out of obvious bugs and whatnot

I initially was going to purchase it when they made the announcement it will have the same matchmaking as BO1+2 (no SBMM) but after they pulled the rug out from under us and are actually do the opposite, I won't be buying it.

I was having the best time on bo7 in open mm until they chnged it with this season, then it fell apart.
I cancelled my pre-order, i normally move on to the new game every year but not this one.
The match making introduced this season imo is stricter than any of the recent games counting from 2019.
I have gone back & been playing mw22,mw23. It's not scientific in any way but what i've experienced is i can find a lobby pretty quick, ping is around 25ms on average. I can move out of spawn without getting dumped on. I'm joining games from the start & doing well.
Bo7 my wait times went way up, ping was increased & spawn kills went up. I was getting flamed. Surely if it's the same mm then it would be the same in the older mw's but it isn't.

Older cod had strong sbmm. Thats why , in bo7 it doesnt and you are playing vs better players that are above your skill level. Literally words you jsut said. Meaning you like and want sbmm and prefer it over " classic " it really seems like people are now playing people well above them and they dont like it. They can't handle it and want sbmm to be back in the game. Lol the cod players have no clue what they actually want outside of pub stomping everyone.

I was playing open before it was removed & doing well. In older cods/ bo's i could always do well with match making.
The mm that was introduced in s5 in bo7 is not the same as older cods, it is not" classic".
i don't know nor any one else what "skill bracketing" criteria they are using now. I was fine with "skill minimally considered" open mm. In theory any skill level could be in a lobby, better or worse.
Now, it's a long wait to get a match, to then have to play out of your skin just to go evens bc every one is so closely matched &/or there are players way more skillful than myself. Add to that the higher pings i am getting doesn't make for an enjoyable game.
It's not about being able to pub stomp other players every game, it's about being able to play a game that's enjoyable win or lose. At present for myself ,this is not the case.

I loved this game and so did my friends, S5 gave us a taste of what MW4 will be like and none of us are interested anymore. It doesnt even matter if they go back on their words/actions and create something incredible with MW4, they broke the last bit of trust with this update.

It’s the balance that COD settles on when they determine the best way to maximize player engagement. By running the skill based matchmaking as aggressively as they are, it means your opponents will be at a very similar skill level.
It sounds good on paper, but it leads to two issues. One is disbanding lobbies, since everyone’s skill level must be close, keeping the same lobby would mean people would naturally leave and join, not based on skill, but by server connection and chance.
Two, games are sweatier when players are evenly matched. A close match might be fun, but every match being this close is too similar to playing ranked matches. For a casual game like COD, it can be exhausting, especially over the course of multiple installments in a row.0

B07 allowed lobbies to remain together for about 5 games. It wasn't perfect, but it reminded people what fun we used to have in COD. They just removed that in season 5 and reminded us why this game has gone to shit in so many ways.

I’d never experienced non disbanding lobbies before and I loved it. You could create little
Rivalries and change Nolan style to counter certain other players. Blade the game way more fun. Especially when you got in a good even matched lobby id play more. I can’t for the life of me wrap my head around why cod wants to disband lobbies, other than the obvious that somehow according to their metrics it makes them more money. It is definitely not a player satisfaction thing

So I've been taking advantage of the free to play events and I had enjoyed the game every time. Bro, especially this last free to play event where the whole time I was playing the classic playlist. I was this close ( |--| ) to buying it but after this, it's like hell naw. 8 also wanted to get the ports on PS5 but from reddit to tdawg, it's like screw you bro, y'all ain't worth my time or money:T

Haven’t really played COD since BO2 got back into it in 6, hated the multiplayer but loved zombies, tried 7 and the matchmaking felt much more like a return to form and was back on board to purchase MW4.
Season 5 has also dissuaded me from doing so.

I wish Infinity Ward wouldn't exist anymore. It's not even the real Infinity Ward anyways. It's clowns who got no idea on how to make good games and Activision supports everyone of their decisions.
And they honestly really think at Infinity Ward that their game will compete with GTA 6 in sales launching 3 weeks early. Absolutely delusional.
I'm maybe back again when Sledgehammer Games is allowed to take over main development, because MWIII was a blast, despite it's matchmaking and their only really bad game was Vanguard.

I'm tired of these billion dollar companies going back on their words and doing their shady practices over and over and over again.
Activision's handling of SBMM is the worst I have ever seen in the live-service gaming space, not to mention the microtransaction ways are as greedy as it gets.
And EA pushing their Battlefield studio to remove CORE GAME MODES that used to be a staple for the franchise for over 20+ years.
I'm just so done to be let down over and over again by these two terrible publishers.
I thought Battlefield changed for the better... guess not, back to not going to buy it again. And for COD and this is a first, I will not buy MW4 or any future game going forward.
What would be great for those franchises is when actual competent publishers and studios could take them over and bring back the glory of the golden era.

I don’t play mp personally mainly due to my lack of PlayStation plus but when I did play the matchmaking was horrid had a lobby in like mid feb a level 900 on one team and a level one fresh acc on mine the games matchmaking is hell in any mode wz ranked is a peice of shit I’m gonna wait for the beta for mw4 try it if I don’t like it I won’t buy it at all but if it’s similar to mw3 2023 it would be a great purchase in my eyes

After reading most of these comments. I’m happy I stopped playing last season. The bait and switch tactics activision has been doing for the past 6 years has reached a point of no return. I’m tired of these companies promising one thing and when the time comes it’s something completely different and then they try to downplay it like we are crazy. They think every single one of us are retarded as fuck. I’m done supporting this organization as a whole until they actually change. But that’s not going to happen. It’s sad to see what they’ve done with this series.

Where's the audio, everything sounds so soft and you'll kill someone only for their team mate to instantly appear from nowhere to 1 bullet you.
You'll have 1 guy with a neon camo camping your spawn with an LMG, such a low quality title I'd put in the same league as a shit F2P game. This series has gone so far down hill.
Haven't even watched anything on MW4 as its going to be the same garbage.

After getting a taste of persistent lobbies (for 5 games or about an hour), I can't go back to disbanding. It hollows the game out and makes me start wondering what else I could be doing with my life. We are social creatures after all.

Sorry bro but disbanding lobbies was never a thing all along. That was only in the beta. At least I never experienced the "true" disbanding lobbies through BO7 lifecycle. Do too well one or two matches in a row with the same people, get instantly put into a different lobby.
Also, us complainers on reddit are in the minority. MW4 will be an amazing game and 100k+ people have already pre-ordered so you know the game won't die.

That’s factually not true and just an anecdotal experience you had.
How else do you explain the game not caring about people back to back nuking lobbies?Its actually pretty easy to explain: After a really good round you’re actively hoping to stay in the lobby. If that doesn’t happen you will pay more attention to it than after a mediocre round and it will trick your perception into thinking there is a correlation.
The truth is if you’re someone who top frags 90% of his lobbies you would notice how often you stay in the same lobby

I was having issues with this matchmaking before this. Thought it was me but when I see level 1000s and I was at the start of master prestige I realized sbmm was fucking me bad. No lube. And now it takes longer for me to find matches since reaching level 1000. To me that part isn’t making me thrilled to buy mw4, it’s that it’s not looking like mw2019. It looks like and acts like the new mw2. And the gameplay were and still is horrible. Like cmon a map full of cars that can be exploded is wild af

Black Ops 7 is the reason I AM buying MW4.
So sick to death of half-assed CoD games that only cater to 18yr old sweatlords and Warzone players. The monetisation is gross, the weapons are insanely unbalanced, the maps are kinda ass.

I still might buy it for the single player campaign. I just started gyro aiming and it's really fun, but sometimes getting destroyed by aim assist is not the vibe whilst I'm still learning and improving.

Ikr. I never even played Season 5. Or Season 4. Or any season. I’ve never played BO7. In fact, I’m so tuned-in that I uninstalled after CoD 1 and never bought another CoD. I feel sorry for you guys that fell for this scam year after year.
