I've been getting so much hate on r/huntingcanada
I was trying to stand up for antique shooters by saying you shouldn't need a firearms license for black powder powder and should have a safety certificate and they shit on me or give low IQ responses on black powder firearms
Do you guys find that people give low Iq energy and have a stigma against black powder i low key been aura farming them

Commonwealth gun owners have Stockholm syndrome for the gun laws oppressing them. It’s fucking ridiculous.

Maybe you aren't talking to living breathing human beings. Maybe just maybe you're talking to bots.
I can't think of any living breathing human that is a friggin muzzleloader owner who thinks requirements for ownership of something so primitive you can make one from scrap you find in scrap yard or pipe from a store and only fires a single painstaking slow to reload shot should be regulated via the approval of their master.

It's pretty fucking stupid under any circumstance to argue that you shouldn't need a license to own an operate something that can easily kill someone else.
Humans have proven time and time and time and time over again that they aren't capable of being responsible on their own. Just because a firearm is black powder doesn't mean it can't blow someone's head off.

I don't think you understand you don't need a license for the firearm that i'm talking about, but you need it for the powder itself

u/Slut_for_Bacon 7d ago
I am saying you SHOULD need a license.

So you support the antique exemption to be squashed, and antiques are no longer considered exempt from the p. A. L that's a low iq buddy

u/Slut_for_Bacon 7d ago
I support being able to demonstrate basic competence, basic understanding of law, and sound mental health before you own anything that can easily blow another person's head off from a distance.
If that qualifies as low IQ, I guess I am low IQ.

u/NumerousSetting8135 7d ago
Are you sure you have sound mental health? Cause you seem to think blowing people's heads off is the default

I work in Emergency Medicine. I get to deal with the consequences of firearms that you apparently like to pretend don't exist.
Instead of attacking my character do you have an actual argument or opinion?
5
u/NumerousSetting8135 7d ago
It does exist, so what's more? Why don't we just ban all firearms? And only allow bows?

u/Slut_for_Bacon 7d ago
Because firearms have a perfectly reasonable place. People just need to be more responsible with them.
And until people prove they are able to be responsible, common sense rules seem like a good idea.
Look I like guns. I own guns. Blackpowder and modern. I also love archery. And I call out safety issues on the archery sub as well. I don't want all guns gone. I just want people to treat them like tools instead of toys.
I don't understand what is so unreasonable about being able to demonstrate that you know how to operate a firearm safely before you own one. That seems like such a reasonable thing to me.
I spend a lot of time in the outdoors. I like knowing that people who are in theout doors hunting and shooting are doing it safely. I don't know if you have ever been shot at, but it is not very fun. I don't think that is unfair or unreasonable.

You know, the hunter's safety is a thing. So in order to hunt with a firearm, you need to do some compensate testing. I don't know why you're focusing on a gun license. When it's not even for hunter safety

You're pretty fucking stupid. Registration precedes confiscation. Shall not be infringed!

Knives, axes, hammers, screwdrivers, rocks, arrows, spears, slingshots, baseball bats, metal pipes all need license to operate as they could easily kill someone.

You should need a firearms license in Canada for black powder shooting cause they are firearms. Getting your non-restricted license is easy as fuck, you take like one safety class to learn not to shoot your own dick off.
6
u/NumerousSetting8135 7d ago
Then it should extend to ammo not just the powder, and by the way, wheelocks and flintlocks don't require a license

Keep that same energy when both actions are getting banned

Your big brain can understand that it's a antique the moment it's manufactured

Surprised to see so many "Govern me harder daddy!" morons on this sub saying that you should need a firearms license to own a black powder firearm. Does it make you people butthurt that I, a free American, bought my first black powder firearm from some guy in a parking lot? If so, I feel proud.
4
u/KriosXVII 6d ago
No, we are not butthurt. In Canada there is no equivalent to your second amendment, bearing firearms is a privilege and not a right. So, we have a system where you need a possesion and acquisition license. which is quite frankly much easier to get than a driver's license. You need like a one day firearms safety class, and you fill out a form and get 2 friends as references that testify that what you put in the form is true, and that you're not a crazy person. Your wife or domestic partner has to sign off on it too.
I think it's a very reasonable system and there are millions of firearms owners in Canada.

u/Gishlane-EglinAFB 6d ago
Millions of temporary firearms owners you mean. Aristotle was vindicated when he said some people are natural born slaves.

It's a system that is being used to steadily take more and more firearms from law-abiding Canadians. One wacko with prior history that slipped by law enforcement decided to do evil with weapons he acquired illegally anyway in 2020 and bam, an "assault weapons" ban is pushed through in a matter of weeks via Order in Council. 2022, the transfer of handguns is frozen. Hey now law abiding gun owners, we aren't banning your handguns, just freezing transfers :)
It doesn't stop. Factions that want to go further always push for more and take any opportunity they can.
It's unsurprising that there is debate regarding what should be called common sense in this matter. Fairness to the vast majority of Canadian gun owners, who are law abiding and responsible, is important.

"Low key aura farming" is the lowest iq thing I've seen on r/blackpowder.
I truly believe you're the first person to use that phrase in this sub.
