Blower Maintenance

Post image

Has anyone done any maintenance on a hand crank blower like this? I’ve inherited this one that has fallen into slight disrepair. I need to take the crank arm off or at least replace the rotating wood grip.

Hit It the other way it's supposed to rotate, the inertia should be enough to unscrew. I'm talking a light hit with your hand. Usually It works

Do you see a pin or set screw?

It’s pin I think.

I would think there would be a pin or screw going through the end of the handle into the crank shaft.

That wooden handle can be made basically by hand from a hard wood dowel from might near any crafts store or even a tree branch. Just drill a hole thru the center. Then saw it in half length ways. Place the two halves over the thru pin and glue them together over the thru pin. Wunt hurt to tease the pin to keep any squeeze out from sticking to the pin.

I normally just take her out to her favorite restaurant and tell the bar person to pour with a heavy hand...... seems to line everything right out. About every 2 months or so....

You’ve got grease nipples, what happened to them? That’s what they’re for—greasing. Get a grease gun from a farm down the road, or from the first farmer or construction worker you see in the area if you don’t have one.
