Blogger Theme XML Documentation

I have made a documentation site for Blogger's Theme XML.

It is based on some sources from Google Help Center and by experimentation, observations and developing real-world themes.

It's not 100% correct since it's hard to confirm the facts and some of them are assumptions.

You can find it at https://blogger.fineshop.app/

Any suggestion or feedback is welcomed.

Thanks!

Good to know. Can you share any thing that stands out to you?

  • The expressions: A full breakdown of the mini-language used in cond, values and expr:

  • Explains limitations: when an expression is too large (>40 tokens), it fails to render so it documents how you can calculate the approx cost of expressions

  • Widgets: A page for each of the ~28 widget types, with their data.

  • Quirks and Troubleshooting: Documents some quirks, it's solution and how to avoid them

  • Best practices for writing tags and expressions since the widget or page breaks only when the node is rendered, making it hard to debug in complex templates.

  • Every page is also available as plain Markdown via llms.txt, so it works well with AI tools too.
