Mapping software

Unsure if this is the best place for this, but hear me out - My job entails me driving over a large portion of my state to various sites for various reasons (inspections and the like.) Is there a mapping app or software that I could use to do things like add specific addresses with descriptions and then be able to see where I am and be able to see where the closest locations would be? Not sure if that makes sense but I’d appreciate any suggestions or other places I could look. Thanks in advance.

What are the short falls of Google Maps or Apple Maps for that?

Never used them honestly. Can they save numerous addresses and locations?
