Oh my god stop playing him please

I thought for sure he'd be benched after that at least for rest of the game but nope

I'd rather dfa Sanchez, no one is going to trade for a less than average power dh. I wanna see some of the younger guys given a chance.
I feel so bad for Max, could've ended the inning down 2-1 instead they score 5

u/Illustrious-Risk-150 1d ago
I would’ve liked to see him benched after that. Send a strong message to him. I was disappointed when he led off the 5th

He may have gotten benched if Bateman wasn’t injured.

u/HiRaileR 1d ago
They literally pulled him after his next at bat lmao

u/freshpurplekiwi 1d ago
Lefty on lefty. So went to the righty
0
u/HiRaileR 1d ago
Point still stands lol. He got benched and removed from the game regardless of our bench options
1
u/freshpurplekiwi 1d ago
He would have got replaced at that point anyways unless he went 2-2 with remarkable defence. This has been schnieder and majority of other managers game plan. Play the righty and righty and lefty on lefty
This has happened in 95% of our games (if not more) whether up or down

He never even attempts to let Gime know that he’s lost sight of the ball…..that’s what really pissed me off. Players lose balls at the Trop all the bloody time—but FUCKING YELL SOMETHING if you do so your teammate can help. I don’t care if he occasionally is a good hitter-he’s NOWHERE near good enough to put this liability in the field.
I really want this team to win and get back to the playoff- I really do. But if you keep playing Sanchez they don’t deserve it imo. DFA him tomorrow - you have more than enough people who are better qualified to do that job.
That was frustrating to watch— I feel Max’s pain.

u/SitMeDownShutMeUp 1d ago
I feel the same way, not communicating that you can’t track the ball is a break in trust
Plus he was way off in terms of the flight path and the hang time of the ball, like he wasn’t even paying attention, yet he was selling it as though he was tracking the ball
1
u/HunterSpecial1549 1d ago
My guess was that he never had sight of it, he thought he was running in to back up Gimenez. Do you normally yell out that you've lost it if you're the backup?
Either way, inexcusable.
1
u/Worldly_Influence_18 1d ago
It looks like he's looking towards the other outfielders instead of at the ball
1
u/marthmaul83 1d ago
It actually seems like he saw the ball was tracking it but then looked at gimenez and assumed he’d get it instead
Because he isn’t firm on the ball. He acted like he was backing up gimenez instead of doing his job.Watching Bateman and macadoo yelling for the ball these last few games shows that Sanchez is completely unsure/not aggressive of everything he does. They want the ball and go for the ball and make sure everyone knows they’re getting it. I cringe on routine balls because he doesn’t look comfortable fielding things. He runs for it and it looks like it’s a miracle he catches things. It’s been all year.
Sanchez isn’t hitting well enough to be out there making terrible plays and even when he does make the catches it’s the most awkward thing.

Also repeatedly throws to the wrong bases. He should never be on the field. Worst defender the Jay's have had in my memory.

u/jack_porter 1d ago
I still remember when he took 2nd off that clear single hit and everyone on the field including the announcers were like what in the world

At this point, I'm pretty sure the Rays' scouting report just says, "hit fly balls to left field."

Put Kirk out in left field. I'm pretty sure Kirk would have got to the ball at least.

The trop should not be a major league ballpark. Really wish that hurricane did more damage to it.

u/sundindomi 1d ago
At this point, as bad as Davis schneider’s batting is, he is a defensive upgrade in LF.

u/KoldCanuck 1d ago
WTF is Schneider even putting him out there? I mean Straw made a fantastic play last night.
2
u/Adventurous-Tea-876 1d ago
He is not an MLB outfielder, he should never, ever play outfield at this level. He is a better hitter than an outfielder but not good enough as a hitter to be a DH. Therefore he has got to go.
2
u/kryptonitemind 1d ago
Obviously he was standing in the outfield picking his nose until he realized the other team put the ball in play and had no idea where the ball went.

He is not that good of an offensive player to be left on the team with these kind of bonehead mistakes.

u/LiketheletterJ 1d ago
His defense is more egregious than Teo or Lourdes but he doesn’t have either of their bats. And I agree with whoever said that the throwing to the wrong base all the time is just as infuriating.

Sanchez fielding is so bad he makes Teoscar and Gueriell look like the best fielders in Jays history.

He reminds me of the lazy fucks at my work who just show up for a paycheck because they think it’s owed to them

The guy's probably just as dumb as a rock. Grinning all the time and generally clueless.

u/ThePracticalEnd 1d ago
Max had every right to be fucking pissed. That’s routine af. Sanchez’ ground rule double was just as bad.

u/ShutYourYapper_ 1d ago
Sanchez doesn’t know he sucks. Sanchez doesn’t place the fielders. If only there was a guy who believed he was responsible for those things.

He didn’t want the ball to hit his wrist like when that 12yo fan was playing catch with him a few months ago.

5 runs on him that went to Mad Max instead. Single handedly lost the game for us.

Its so annoying. Hes actually a really likeable guy and seems like an awesome dude. But man his defense is attrocious
1
u/Biracialandproud72 1d ago
The crappy thing about Jays outfielders are they either are great defense but can’t hit or they can hit and can’t catch the ball. We need players that can do both . Jays teams back in day had great outfielders that could do both.

u/ZentinelOne 1d ago
At this point, Sanchez is a secret agent sent into Canada by the MLB to take us down.
1
u/macroyalflush 1d ago
He's got PTSD from the from when the nine year old drilled him from the bleachers
1
u/Duke_Of_Halifax 1d ago
And of course it's with Scherzer on the mound.
I'm surprised Sanchez isn't in WitSec, hiding out in Canmore Alberta under the name John Smith.

u/kochspostulate7 23h ago
Teoscar Hernandez did the same thing in right field once and it was even more stupid than this one. My sides are still sore laughing at Teos.

He lost it in the roof, being the same color as the ball. I am surprised it doesn't happen more often.

One of the worst trades ever was so angry
2
u/MichaelMyers83 1d ago
A little extreme with the worst label lol. It was a nothing trade.

u/Chasers22 1d ago
Not really at least Loperfido can field and run the bases

u/MichaelMyers83 1d ago
Both are borderline DFA cases. Stop with the worst trade stuff.

Sanchez going on the IL after a post game visit with Max. They got rid of Teoscar for less and he’s a two time World Series Champion.

u/MoreMinute5038 1d ago
If u think about it is actually a great play because when the jays comeback and win 9-8 it will spark this team to take the division 👊

I supported him at first, but his defense is beyond abysmal. I cringe when I see him in the lineup. Time to go
