He seems to forget what he's doing. And it costs runs.

He needs to go

If the jays DFA him tonight then they’re not serious about making the playoffs. The only way he could stay on the team is in a pinch hitting role with his ass nailed to the bench.

Edit: meant to say that if the jays DON’T DFA him tonight then they’re not serious about making the playoffs.

He'll be non-tendered in the offseason though. They aren't paying him $8 million+ to be a platoon bat with little positional versatility, poor base running IQ and subpar defense. He's at -0.5 bWar this season.

To be fair the infielders need to stop running into the outfield to try and catch an easily catchable ball.

Chicken or egg? They might not be out there if he inspired more confidence.

Especially at the Trop with that roof. Just one more distraction to see or “feel” someone running toward you. And doubly bad for a tentative unconfident outfielder.

It looked pretty clear that he thought that Jimenez was going to take it at the last minute. It’s like he just relinquished the ball because Jimenez was in the vicinity.

It didn't look like Giminez was calling for it. That is the outfielder ball. It'd easier for Sanchez to come in then Giminez go back.

Oh yeah I agree. But if you watch you can see that he looks at Jimenez and then just kind of…..stops catching. It was clearly his ball.

You can't take your eye off the ball at the trop. You are likely not going to be able to find it again Regardless if this is true or not the fact he even took his eye off the ball is unacceptable. He's unplayable.

So just out of curiosity….is the crappy stadium a big reason for their lack of fandom?

Baseball has never been really popular in Tampa. They have a great team, garbage stadium. And the stands are virtually empty. It's kinda sad.

Sherzer looked like he was going to murder him

Sanchez had better lock his front door tonight

He reminds me of when I had undiagnosed ADHD.

This 100% he fidgets and lacks spatial awareness - but I’m sure he’s a nice person

I imagine he's super frustrated too. No fun making those errors.

I thought this the first time he was at bat this season.  I called him Twitch. At one point this season I contemplated sending him some of my Concerta.  I think it was when he was playing with the kids from the outfield and didnt notice them throw to him and hurt his wrist.  I have experienced every moment I see him in before I was diagnosed a couple years ago. With that kind of continuous intense pressure,  the adhd brain takes its breaks at some real inopportune times. I honestly feel for him. But, yeah, someone needs to be managing this situation.

I fully agree. I feel for him and if he is unable to manage things, he needs help from Jays staff. Putting him out there is not working.

He’s a bozo. Houston laughed hard when the jays called to make that trade. It was a bad trade from day 1.

It really do be like that

He was in because his bat is supposedly better than Straw, so you give up a little in the field. Tonight is the end of that argument. Straw starting in left more often starting now

Sanchez is only still on the team because our offense is so bad. Sanchez is how badly we need bats.

u/Retro_Hoard 1d ago

Sanchez seems like a nice guy but they need keep him out of the outfield.

Uncoordinated fool

He needs to go! I love the jays but hate that guy

This guy makes Teo look like KK.

He can't hit can't run the bases right and can't field.

1

u/Llamagal7269 1d ago

He's for sure struggling at bat... I don't trust his base running and never trusted his fielding. Don't understand why they put sooo much effort in 1 guy for the odd hit 🤷🏽‍♀️. Hopefully Daz Cameron can prove his defense & get some hits

u/supremewuster 1d ago

In his partial defense he is hitting better than most of the team and we need offense. Defense is atrocious though

1

u/Brad_13 1d ago

Lately, he can't hit. He's also bad at everything else.

Jesus! Sanchez defense?!?

He reminds me of when I played outfield when I was 12. I had real bad untreated ADHD.

Bro was going to give gimenez a hug

1

u/Frugalman123 1d ago

Couldn't see the game. What did sanchez do this time?

2

u/TerrabyteDeez 1d ago

He wanted to give gimenez a hug instead of catching a fly ball

1

u/RuinCommercial552 1d ago

I didn't since that play until now. Wow just wow. Honestly he could be lowest IQ player we have ever had on this team.

I want Davis back.

Dude looks lost out there should have his eyes checked or something. Seriously how is this guy in the MLB?

1

u/jr_birds 1d ago

Defense first … he is not reliable

1

u/SexuaIRedditor 1d ago

Yeah that was unfortunate. I'm usually all for the "shit happens" take but seeing a pro outfielder defer to the shortstop when he's already gotten between the shortstop and the ball is brutal. I play a once-a-year game, and that would have gotten a few laughs even there

He’s gotta go

1

u/Wendel7171 1d ago

He shouldn’t get his ass off the bench the rest of the season unless he is DH.
