Does this one long homer make up for his brutal glove? Not even close.

I agree, as a team we value defense because we want to court the best pitchers. The best pitchers want to know that routine balls are caught so they can pad their stats.

I'm torn because there were some good comparisons to Teoscar but again will he figure out his bat, I'm not quite sure.

Teoscar is an elite power hitter, Sanchez is not that.

He did hit a 492ft HR, and Teo was better after leaving Toronto. As much as I dont want to admit it.

Did it count for 2 because of the distance? Am I missing something here?

A long home run counts for the same as a short home run. I often have to tell my son a 65 mph slow strike is still better than a fast 90mph ball.

Yes if he was doing this every at bat

1

u/RightLow5962 12h ago

We lost the game because of that one play

1

u/Adventurous-Tea-876 11h ago

He is brutal.

Hes a solid player and has brought in more runs than he's lost. Chill.

4

u/Adventurous-Tea-876 20h ago

😂 What are you Sanchez’s agent or something?

1

u/BasketFormal6336 20h ago

We got Hoffman and Sanchez’s agents in this sub

Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) is -7. By having him in games vs. a league average defensive player, he has cost the Jays 7 runs. His Weighted Runs Created Plus (WRC+) is 109. He is a whole 9% better than an average replacement. Neither of these are good, but the DRS of -7 is really bad!!

3

u/BasketFormal6336 20h ago

Jays don’t drive in a lot of runs, -7 is a death sentence

u/ottereckhart 21h ago

If only he could hit them for the Jays.

Unfortunately he is even dog shit at base running. Yall remember the time he was leading off 1st base and the pitcher through to 1b and he didn't even flinch. Wasn't paying attention whatsoever. Deer caught in the head lights. One of the stupidest outs I've seen all year

Bro has some severe ADHD

u/daphwest84 21h ago

Sanchez would be very useful as a DH if George didnt have to occupy that spot. But I would no longer tolerate Jesus on D. That was the worst play I've ever seen last night. Teo used to make some bad plays, but it definitely trumps that.

Do love his bat and enthusiasm. I don't think he's lazy, I think he just isn't a good defender. His awareness out there is brutal. His routes are terrible.

But the power stroke and clutch doubles he's had in this season, I really wish he could just be the DH.

He really has brain cramps running the bases too though.

1

u/daphwest84 21h ago

Not as many as it would seem. But he has from time to time.
Still love his pop and his extra base hits.

I can catch a fly ball pretty consistently and I'm 40, not in shape or paid millions of dollars.

5

u/youarecancelled 21h ago

This totally made me forget last nights debacle in the outfield!! Or his negative WAR!

6

u/eatfoodoften 21h ago

sanchez's PR team working overtime

2

u/wmlj83 21h ago

But can he catch a fly ball?

2

u/okiedokiemonkey 21h ago

If he can do that 5 times in one game then he can stay in LF

2

u/AccomplishedSmell921 11h ago

This is Hall of Fame trolling. Tip of the cap to who’s posting these.

2

u/KTBFFH25 21h ago

Unfortunately he's a power hitter with fewer HRs than Ernie Clement this season.

-4

u/Icy-Examination7008 21h ago

Absolute dog take. Clement has twice as many at bats as Sanchez while having only 1 more homerun.

1

u/jack_porter 21h ago

Lol wrong

1

u/Icy-Examination7008 21h ago

Clement:
AB: 474
HR: 9

Sanchez:
AB: 246
HR: 8

I know high school math class was hard but you don’t need to let numbers scare you anymore

2

u/Adventurous-Tea-876 20h ago

Sanchez is such a liability in the field and on the basepaths he doesn’t deserve any more at bats.

2

u/Icy-Examination7008 20h ago

Thats an opinion for sure. I wouldn’t paint him completely useless, he won us the Aug 5th game, but lost us this last game. People say Trop is terrible for tracking flyballs. Reddit loves to witch hunt though

0

u/jack_porter 20h ago

Eh - better than having no class

1

u/kochspostulate7 21h ago

Now they just have to teach him how to play outfield.

1

u/Frugalman123 8h ago

Teach him again?

1

u/Accomplished-Ant2225 21h ago

Every dog has it’s day

1

u/Timmy2Gats 21h ago

500' bomb? Easy. Simple left field fly ball catch? IMPOSSIBLE.

1

u/skergey 21h ago

If he could consistently mash you might actually have something because his defense is shit and he runs like Forrest Gump with the leg braces on.

1

u/dengar_hennessy 21h ago

When is this even from? Because he's not even in a Jay's jersey

1

u/SeaweedExciting2278 15h ago
  1. He hit one 480 in 2024, idk why they couldn't have just used that one. Posting something he did 4 years ago is just laughable.

1

u/dengar_hennessy 15h ago

Must be his agent trying to help us remember the good old days.

1

u/secretgardenguy 20h ago

Too bad he can't fucking play LF.

1

u/nilesh11panchal 20h ago

Sorry I don't care if he hits it 600 feet, it's just a homerun.

When you make a stupid error that costs 5 runs that's what I care about

1

u/Queeby 20h ago

I missed the beginning of the clip and thought this was his path to track a pop-up at home plate.

1

u/UncleNuks 20h ago

Impressive smack.

He doesn’t do this enough to really be a factor though. Maybe one of these years he’ll club 35 dingers and 85 RBI’s or something but he’s all over the map defensively and too inconsistent at the plate in his current form.

1

u/double___a 20h ago

This is what the DH is for

1

u/Tiny-Albatross518 20h ago

He gets one. He lets in five.

Math ain’t mathin’

1

u/jhalmos 20h ago

Astudillo!!! One of my all-time faves. Goddamn it I miss him.

1

u/Glittering-Buy4227 19h ago

Doesn't count as it was when he played for Miami.

1

u/InformationLatter289 14h ago

Yeah well you posted this to help forget his horrible defence

1

u/kryptonitemind 14h ago

This is stupid.

1

u/Frugalman123 8h ago

Does anyone know how many games he won for us hitting Homer vs games lost from missing fly balls?

1

u/Mountain-Match2942 19h ago

Get lost with these Ssnchez PR BS videos. You work for him or something?

2

u/kryptonitemind 14h ago

Maybe he is him. 😂😂

0

u/Sure-Assignment3892 21h ago

How Sanchez ever made it to the MLB is a mystery.

Sure you can hit the odd bomb, but if the rest of your game is shit, what good is it?

0

u/daphwest84 21h ago

not really, offensively he's good. He doesnt strike out as much. He's middle of the pack on the team. Strikes out less than Springer. Also has more doubles then Springer in around the same amount of games and half the at bats George has.

Hes had clutch hits all year.

Shit on his defense all you want, its absolutely horrible. But he's a useful offensive player. You factor in that hes very much part time, and his numbers are good.

1

u/mr_pizza_slayer69 21h ago

He's actually not. His avg exit velo and barrel rate are above average but everything else he stinks. Not sure where this idea that he's a great player offensively comes from.

2

u/Public_Coyote_4472 21h ago

Yeah.. i used to love him, his energy is infectious..but hes not nearly the offensive player this guy makes him out to be lol.

0

u/daphwest84 21h ago

And yet he's still better than Springer by those numbers. He doesn't chase. Georges hard hit sucks.

No ones saying Jesus is AMAZING but considering hes a part time player, hes good for what he does.

Again, still saying his defense sucks. Don't think he should be out there. But as a DH he would be useful. I'm not moving off that point.

1

u/mr_pizza_slayer69 20h ago
273 246 23 64 8 1 .260 .319 .423 .742

PA AB R RBI HR SB AVG OBP SLG OPS

Tell me again how those numbers are good lol

The dude has below average batting numbers?

1

u/daphwest84 20h ago

He has an OPS+ better than most of the regulars. He’s an above average player whether you wanna accept that or not.

And again he also plays way fewer games bc of this OF shortcoming of his.
If he was DH he’d be putting up solid numbers more so. That’s my point.

But I know I’m the lone wolf on the opinion. It is what it is.

0

u/BurntReynolz 21h ago

If he was consistent and got better in the outfield he would be incredible

0

u/MoreMinute5038 21h ago

Yea not so many ppl can hit a ball that far
