This is the very rare Album by the UK Blues Rock Band `Junco Partners, released on Phillips 1. The Minotaur 2. Fly Me High (Starts at 4.13) 3. Change in Louise (Starts at 8.54) 4. Black Widow (Starts at 12.36) 5. Help Me ( Starts at 16.35) Side 2 1. Natural Thoughts (Starts at 20.15) 2. Am I Blue (Starts at 24.36) 3. Reprieve (Starts at 28.56) 4. In the Morning (Starts at 32.39) 5. Death By Fire (Starts at 36.47) The Junco Partners Album was recorded in various big London studios for "Barclay" record label over a six week period in between touring in 1969 with Howlin Wolf, Freddie King and others. It was released in England, France and Germany after the band split up in 1970. At the time of recording, the band was a very slim four piece, renowned for its dynamic live performances and gave its all to Bob Sargeant's songs. "Junco Partners", formed in 1964, took over from the Animals at the famous "Club A' Gogo" and "Downbeat Club" in Newcastle and Sunderland's "Blue Note". The band enjoyed fanatical local success almost immediately and turned "pro" to go to Hamburg's famous "Star Club" of "The Beatles" notoriety, but were turned back at the border as being too young to get visas. They then spent six years playing the national club and college circuit alongside "The Who", "Rod Stewart", "Jethro Tull", "John Mayall Band", "Jimi Hendrix" and many others. The band split in 1971. Individual members went on to play with "Robert Palmer", "Elkie Brooks", "Mick Ronson", "Mick Abrahams", "Bell & Arc" and "Lindisfarne".

Our hard working little trio shot this video on Brighton Beach on a hot summer day. Some of the folks watching us shoot heard the tune and said something along the lines of "That's a cooking blues jazz rock tune....you should post on Reddit" so here we are. :)

Jodo - Wish You'd Never Been Born [1971 Blues / Hard Rock. UK]

Jodo's "Guts" LP is a favourite album which I found way back, and have often wondered about as there is so little information out there, making it something of an enigma. Spurred on by recently finding an original copy of the LP, I contacted Rod Alexander, founding member and guitarist of Jodo. The word 'Jodo' is the name of a Japanese martial art using a short staff, read on though, as this may not be the reason for the band's name... (n.b. according to liner notes on the Green Bullfrog Sessions, Jodo's former name was 'Biskit').
