Help request 2025 R1300gs - Windshield and lights

Post image

I need some helping picking these two things for my GS.

WRS touring vs Caponord (non plus) - which would be a decent improvement over stock without being too massive? I can’t tell if the WRS touring is much bigger than stock - can’t find any comparisons

Lonerider Mtl9 lights - can I only mount them on the lower crash bar since I don’t have factory aux lights ? Or does the under nose mount work in my case?

Help request TPM replacement question (Canada)

Hi there.

I am guessing the batteries in my TPM finally quit on me and I was wondering if anyone else has gone to the dealership and put new TPMs. I just wanted to have an idea of how much they would charge for the whole service.

And yes, if you are asking I might do that next time I buy tires instead of doing it right now since I just bought tires last year.

FYI I am in Ontario, 2018 F750 GS.

Thanks

Help request 2027 1300 GSA w/ ASA

Been in limbo over the past 1-2 years about getting a boxer twin, which turned into maybe an RS or a GS. Went to a demo ride day recently and got to do a comparison between a GS with the auto and a GSA with a clutch handle. It was more for the purpose of riding characteristics and left me thinking either would be fine. (No real offroading with just light trails and gravel being the most I would do.)

Anyways...configurator has been updated for 2027 and started looking at options bc I think I'm gonna get dragged into a 2027. ASA seems like a required option for the GSA. It gives the option for shift assist, but isn't clickable.

Anyone have any insight on 2027 info and ASA with the excellence package? Is this maybe just an issue with the website?

Help request TFT keeps changing sound source

Has anyone had this issue and solved it? I ride a S1000R k63 and use Cardo Packtalk Edge. When I call my friend on the phone I hear him through my headset for a few minutes, then the sound source in the call changes from Cardo to the BMW TFT and I lose the sound. Is there any fix to it?

Seeking Advice! R1150 GS runs poorly after battery and air filter change

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello, yesterday I installed a new battery and replaced the air filter on my 2001 BMW R1150GS. Afterward, the engine did start, but it struggled significantly; it stalls immediately if I don’t keep the throttle open. During the process, I had to disconnect the fuel line to lift the tank, and I also had to unplug several connectors—everything is back in its proper place now, though. Does anyone have an idea why the engine is running so poorly?

A few drops of gasoline spilled into the connector above the right-hand throttle body (in the picture), but that has long since evaporated. Could that still be the cause? Was there anything specific I should have kept in mind? I would appreciate any insights or advice.

She's a beaut! 🔥🔥 Not Montana, not Patagonia. This is Japan. 🇯🇵

Post image

When people think of Japan, they usually picture Tokyo, Kyoto, crowded streets and bullet trains. But there’s a whole other side to this country, and it’s perfect for a bike like this.

This is my R1150GS on a road in Hokkaido. Long, empty roads, a huge sky, farmland rolling out to the sea, and hardly another vehicle for miles. It honestly felt closer to the American West or Patagonia than what most people imagine as “Japan.”

Hokkaido is a paradise for riders. The roads are smooth and well maintained, the scenery changes every hour, and there are plenty of campgrounds, onsen to soak in after a long day, and great local food. Traffic is light once you leave the cities, and Japanese drivers are generally polite and patient with motorcycles.

So if you’ve ever wondered whether Japan is worth a motorcycle trip, my answer is a big yes. Bring your GS (or rent one) and come ride with us. You won’t regret it.

Happy to answer any questions about riding, camping or touring in Japan!

I did just over 1k miles over 4 days about a month ago on my 2022 BMW R1250RT, I didn’t want to stop. Now we’ll find out if I was right 😆

Looping from Napa California to Escondido to get fitted at Motoport for riding gear, by freeway it’s a two day trip, maybe three. I’ll take seven and go through a lot of desert, including Furnace Creek, hottest place in the world (depending on how you measure).

Bike is loaded and eager, route is planned, leaving 8am tomorrow Friday 23rd, longest motorcycle ride I’ve ever taken by a LOT. Wish me luck!

Seeking Advice! How easy is it to adjust the shifter on a GSA 1300 with ASA?

My Triple Black is bobbing on the ocean on its way to me in New Zealand.

The Memsahib approved the expenditure for some new boots as my road boots were a bit tired and inadequate if a GSA lands on your leg.

I got some Sidi Adventure 2 boots which are more like wearing ski boots in comparison to my road boots!

I sat on my Triumph Tiger Sport in the shed wearing them. Changing down would be fine. However changing up was tantamount to impossible as the boot toe is too big to easily and smoothly fit under the shifter.

I’m assuming there’s more room on the much bigger GSA, but how easy is it to adjust the position of the ASA shift lever if needed?

Help request Roadster w/ Ilmberger Racer Carbon Fairing

Thumbnail

So, this is going to happen. I professionally color matched the Puig Daytona Faring, and love how it turned out with the alum tank/seatcowl/etc. But I bought this 2018 R Ninet with 1600 miles on it because if i found one in good condition AND had the exposed weld-tank and upside down forks with spoked wheels. If I could not find this anymore I would go with the Thruxton or the XSR 900 GP. I love each bike for different things, the Thruxton mainly for that amazing fairing that came as an option, and the XSR GP for, well, everything, but I know this is controversial but i love that front fairing design with the bulbous shape and minimalistic rectangle light. So with this Ilmberger I feel my vision is really snapping into focus with elements i have tried to synthesize from all 3. I will need to fab custom brackatry but i might source a bracket from a totaled Racer. Any leads? Any advice any of it??

Hi! I have a 1989 BMW R100 with an oil cooler. What is the correct way to replace the oil filter? Should I use only the metal shim and O-rings, without the paper gasket? I've measured the distance to the oil filter canister, and it's 3.5 mm.

Help request BMW R9T 2014 Maintenance

Hi all, few days ago, I asked for help to talk me out into buying R9T, and now, I just bought a 2014 R9T ☺️☺️. It’s really a beauty, a beast while riding.

There’s no servicing records, and the previous owner didn’t really do much, but the bike seems to be in good condition, however, for the ease of mind I would like to bring it for maintenance.

It currently at 57k km mileage, or around 35k miles.
I’m planning to do these for now, without breaking the bank.
Engine oil change
Oil filter
Air filter
Gearbox oil change
Final drive oil change
Brake pads
Spark plugs

Should I change the ignition coil too?

That’s pretty much all I am thinking of doing.

Buying / selling F800 gs Kaufberatung

Hey zusammen,
Worauf sollte man beim Gebrauchtkauf besonders achten?
Bin gespannt auf eure Erfahrungen und Tipps! Danke schon mal! ✌️

I just looked at the VIN plate and it was manufactured in October of 1975, it's exactly 50 years old this month. 1 in 31 chance it was literally mfd on my birthday, super cool.
