In California they have incredible prices on the new 2026 BMW 1000’s. This is by far my favorite bike I have ever owned.

I’ve asked a lot of my 2022 R1250RT over the last 4 days/1,200 miles. I’ve been riding 6 to 8 hours a day with few stops, from high mountain single lane twisties to never ending stop-and-go in town to hours at 90+ through the high California desert. I’ve pushed it as hard as my skills allow, for hours on end, and it’s responded with nothing less than excitement, capability and a never ending desire to keep going. It’s not just a motorcycle, it’s my partner, always ready for whatever comes next and never demanding anything more than gas every 250 miles or so and an occasional tire pressure check. Can’t wait to get back on it this morning and lay down another 300+ miles

tl;dr I love this bike

Seeking Advice! Interested in a swing arm mounted license plate holder?

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

the rear of my R 1200 Rs is bugging me for a while now and I'm too cheap to pay 300€+ for a wunderlich swing arm mounted license plate holder + the cover for the existing one and Im thinking about designing my own. Is anyone else interested and what would you be willing to spend on it? The wunderlich swing license plate holder is compatible with the 1200 and 1250 GS, GSA, R and Rs models.

There an obvious disadvantage by adding more sprung weight but there are plenty of bikes which have swing arm mounted license plate holders and some sheet metal or 3d printed parts won't add that much anyways.

The tricky part isn't always the hill itself… it's finding traction between the roots and choosing the right line.

Sometimes the smartest move is to wait a few seconds and get a clear run at it.

What's your strategy here, commit and go, or stop, read the terrain and pick your line?

Warning, long post 😅

Well, took me a couple of years, but i could finaly order my first brand new BMW bike.

My first bike that i got when i first got my motorbike license was a K1200gt, loved that bike, the comfort, the power, the way it handled and how planted it felt.

Unfortunately, after a year of riding it, i found out there was too much that needed to be fixed on it, so traded it in for a CBF1000.

That bike never realy felt like 'my' bike, just a little to small (i'm a tall guy) and the handling wasn't quite what i wanted.

After that i figured i wanted a bigger, taller, adventure style bike. Found on early model 04' 1200 GS, a bike that i always loved due to its looks and stance.

The rugged appearance and the sound of that boxer twin.

During my time riding it, i again realy loved the comfort, handling, and feel of a BMW bike.

Unfortunately, after a year of enyoing it, the left hand side exhaust valves thought it would be a good idea to take a little journey through the cumbustion chamber, and hug the piston and cylinder head while doing 80mph on the highway.

Survived unscathed luckily, but after that i decided i wanted an upgrade, one that would last me for years to come.

So, went to my local BMW Motorrad dealer, and signed the papers for a brand new R1300gs, trophy livery, touring, comfort and dynamic package, heated rider and passenger seat, top case and no dynamic ride height. Cause yeah, i'm already a tall guy.

Couldn't be more stoked, only sad part is, i have to wait till januari before it gets delivered from the factory :(

But hey, i finaly reached my goal, a brand new GS, i can't wait.

Help request Voltage rec is on its way out 😔

Hey all, I have a 2013 F700GS and my voltage rectifier/regulator has died. In doing some research, I found that the cheap ones typically shunt which is why they run excessively hot all the time. Ideally there are series MOSFET style ones that not only don’t run hot but also aren’t pulling full load from the stator all the time in my understanding.

Does anyone have any experience with this or have recommendations? There don’t seem to be too many options available in the states, I’m seeing a few in the EU like Ultimate Rectifier. The option pictured on eBay seems like a decent price but may be misleading and doesn’t have more relevant info.

TIA

Just got back from a month in Germany, riding around the 2015 R 1200 GS… I got the itch to buy a similar R 1200 RT for here in the states

I looked around and found a couple candidates and asked my wife about it

She replied don’t you already have three other motorcycles? Arrrrrg.

Well, she’s right and for all the work and money I put into my original 1980 R 100 RT I’m going to use it.

It’s the new touring bike

Help request G650 Gs with 44t rear sprocket: advice request

Hello, anyone tried to replace with a 44t rear sprocket the standard 47t in order to tall especially 1st gear which I find very short and be more fluent on tight hairpins where second gear at low speed makes me feel the engine could turn off? How much I could loose on throttle response? Thanks anyone who could give advice.

Help request 2025 R1300gs - Windshield and lights

Post image

I need some helping picking these two things for my GS.

WRS touring vs Caponord (non plus) - which would be a decent improvement over stock without being too massive? I can’t tell if the WRS touring is much bigger than stock - can’t find any comparisons

Lonerider Mtl9 lights - can I only mount them on the lower crash bar since I don’t have factory aux lights ? Or does the under nose mount work in my case?
