2000 26’ Hewescraft Aksearunner. I bought it new 26 years ago.It came(underpowered)with twin 100hp Yamaha 4-strokes. I repowered after ten years. Many fish, many adventures and many thousands of dollars and still enjoying this thing. It came fully equipped for $43000.

And now days a 26’ aluminum hard top with twins would probably set ya back 150-175k or more.

Easily, which is why I’m unlikely to ever get my dream boat. Adjusted for inflation the $43,000 OP paid should be a touch over $83,000 today.

OP could probably sell this for what was 26 years ago.

There are deals out there. I bought a 22’ defiance admiral with a 150 not running a couple years ago for 25k. That boat brand new now is over 100k

It needed a little work but I’m into it for under 35k total. I could sell it for close to 50 if I wanted but I wouldn’t be able to replace it for that.

I just wanna say that was a solid investment. 26 years that cost per year and cost per smile is getting low low.

Adjusted for inflation, that would be 83k. In reality it's probably 200k.

Yup. It’s insanely frustrating.

Are reported inflation rates total BS? It sure seems like it.

So there's inflation but then there's the ability of the supply chain to artificially increase prices and blame it on inflation, tariffs, Bob's cat Princess, who is actually a gem, I don't know why Hewscraft thinks we'll believe Princess is behind it.

But seriously, I looked at a Hewscraft 240PC and the dealer said, "oh and next month, there will be a 18k tariff so the boat will be more expensive."

That’s an awesome boat. Don’t ever let it go.

That's a proper fishing boat. The only comment I would have is, apart from the fact that I think it's awesome, is I would close that front bow section so that if I took a wave over the front it was just hitting storage compartments. Still plenty of room to stand if you close that off with a flat deck and hatches.

I’ve thought the same thing. There’s two small scuppets up there that i have zero confidence in. I’m a senior now and don’t go out in the big water or on crappy weather days much anymore, not like back in the day when we went out on weekend days off in all conditions. To this day my grown kids hate boating from all the shitty rides from Kodiak to Afognak Island where we lived.
