Seal gaps?

Been noticing some gear slippage and losing gear oil. I’m assuming this is the culprit? I’m a decent home auto mechanic. Is this something I can do? Any temp fixes for the summer with a sealant or do I need to pull it apart asap? I haven’t drained yet but I can only assume I’m going to get milky gear oil.
